My alt was bought and created just for this, however it takes a long time to get the materials you need to make decent armor. Right now after about 6 months or so, I can make nice armor, although it is a bit heavier than what is made by the 12 pointers. To be honest with you, it is a bit of a pain and he is seldom played other than to go harvest some resource, so I'll probably just grind some missions on dant and buy whatever I need in the not so far future.

It's probably cheaper and less time consuming to simply buy what you need.

im thinking bout a armoursmith, just so i can make my own armour, my mains a wookiee, the armour would be mostly for him, im somewhat well off so buying good resources isnt a prob, but in the long run i wonder if its worth it to make my own armour, or just buy armour, ive got almost 2k of valcyn elopi wooly hide stored up and i figure i can use this on my armour
anyone havinga alt asmith that they use just for themselves?
Total waste if you are doing it to just make armor for yourself. A better use for your alt would be a "buff-bot", get Master Doctor and Master Musician/Dancer.

Master Doc definitely.....i had to build another computer for this but boy was it worth it.... Armorsmith or Weaponsmith if you want to committ to the game and watch swgcraft.com religiously for the next 3-6months to get quality resources... if not then do the entertainer thing, or an easier way to make money as a crafter would be Chef... Brandy isn't too hard to make and 90% of combat characters are serious alcoholics.

dont bother. the time it takes and money it takes to get resources points, and such is not worth it to only supply yourself. if you really want to do it, you can gather enough resources and make yourself like 50 suits in a factory, and store them and drop AS. but honestly, you'd be much better trading that hide in for cash or suits.

I don't think so.. there are enough Skilling points *just* to be a master craftsman and a pretty decent combat player as well.
My final template would be: (alsmost there aprt from AS)
Master Swordsman, Master Armoursmith, Artisan 4000, Brawler 4040, TKA 4314
Sure it isn't eitehr the most uber templated for PVE, or PVP... but allows me to play the game in two distinct and different ways while not sacrifing any part of the character.
Sure you loose things such as medic and Scout Talior & Master Brawler which can be VERY useful, but with a "little help from your friends" (cue beatles moment) you cna split your character oino a decent all-round player - nothing too ubber but then that is what skill tapes are for.

I'm a HUGE dabbler.3 weeks ago I grinded to Master Doctor and dropped it after about 5 days of buffing people on dantooine....
ANYWAYS, here's my current template: TKM, Smuggler 0040 (oh the slicing!), Scout 1000, Artisan 4000, Master Armorsmith
I'm still yet to 'grow' into this template (still a novice artisan lol). But I really like making armor...I was one for a long time(never mastered it) but I /agree that it is really hard to sell well w/o the best resources out there.

unless you are committed to making armor, it is a waste of time and energy to make it.
I am on valcyn and charging about 350k per suit of wookiee armor, you can make that in a hour or two on dant doing janta/mokk missions.
if you made your own armor, and sold a suit or ten to your buddies it might be worth it. also only 2k of the tat wooly would get you about 10-15 suits or less
