Nowadays everyone wears Composite or their Wookie Hunting Armor. Its simply because they have the best protection and the HAM bars don't really mean anything since most people are buffed 95% of the time. My idea to diversify armor is to have Skill Mods & Skill Encumberances on each type of Armor. As an example, Padded could be a moderate protection armor with a few vulnerabilities (Stun & Acid come to mind but its just an idea). Since Padded is a moderate armor it would negate ones mobility (slow them down) moderately. It could have bonuses for certain classes (such as + to ranged aiming, need more ideas). A light scout armor could be Ubese, it would have bonuses to Terrain Negotiation and only slightly slower an unarmored person's speed. Since its a scout armor it would have the worse resists most likely and multiple vulnerabilities, it could have + to dodge and ranged/melee defense since it would be easier to evade in a lighter armor. Composite would have the highest resists but should have negative defense mods, especially dodge and ranged defense. These are just some ideas on mods that could be applied, I'm sure you guys can think of alot more. Criticism and feedback is welcome

There is a very small push from a few BEs to have the BE tissues that are normally used by tailors go into the lighter armors to make them more useful over the heavier protective armors. The tailors are very protective of these tissues though and even are hoping armor is nerfed so bad that people would rather wear BE Clothes. Personally that seems self defeating since everyone will just go jedi if they need to give up their armor. Jedi don't wear tailor clothes.
Here is a couple links on the matter in the BE boards:

Well most likely you want to use server trade to find bone armor, but 50% bone armor wont happen... lol. Encumberance as it is now really doesn't matter a whole lot, most people are buffed all the time. There needs to be a penalty for wearing armor and benefits of wearing lighter armor. It'll also make SWG not look like Clone Wars......

Hmm..even 40% energy resists on Bone armor would be nice...I am not concerned with HA encumberance...it's the Mind Encumberance I want to lower...Comp helmets are just to high and all I really need is energy resists for my head..I am not worried about melee def...

I know with certain loots that 35-40% energy bone armor is possible. I think the best i have made personally was 35% energy with voritor segs i think. Its been awhile since i made it, but i'm pretty sure it was voritor segs that i used.

And I made the following bone helmet today
Condition 9020
Energy 43%
Electricity 12%
Health 10
Action 13
Mind 44
And no special loot required, just good resources.

Or even better:
Condition 9178
Energy 45%
Electricity 12%
Kinetic 4%
Health 14
Action 18
Mind 48
when including a voritor lizard scale.

Emily,
Thanks for researching that. Any Lowca AS willing to take a special order for some Bone Armor Helmets?
