Hi... just mastered armoursmith two days ago and reading the forums here was a great help for many things.
I just finished my first set of Comp and got
80% Kinetic
71% Electric
59% Base
Ham
800 +/-
However I want to try and reduce that ham... I've seen comp out there with lower ham, around 500... I know that being a 10 pt MAS I probably won't get anywhere near 500 but if I could get around 700 i'd be happy...
My question is... I've seen comp out there with Kinetic 80 and electric in Base... or am I off my trolley? No matter what I do I can't seem to get rid of the Electric as a special. I'm assuming this would lower the ham.... Or am I barmy and this is impossible, electric in comp is always a special?
If comp can be made with Only kinetic as a special, how is it done?

The only time electric does not appear in the special category is when you construct the armor with krayt comp segments...however, when you do that, you can't add kinetic layers, either...since the segment is already made...too late to add layers. Worth noting...krayt comp segment armor is usually quite light.
Otherwise, Electric is just an innate special that will always appear in your composite. You cannot remove it, and even if you could, would probably have no effect on the HAM. The best way to make lightweight kinetic comp:
1) Experiment your layers down to 2/2/2 or less, then put anything left into kinetic/base...depending on your situation
* I've been making 80% Kinetic comp by putting 1 into special, 2 into quality, and all the rest into durability (1/1/1)
2) Carefully monitor how high the OQ and Malleability are of the resources you are using.
3) Accept nothing less than "amazing success" on the first experiment...make every one of those 10 points count
* Although..."great success" is usually ok with durability..."amazing success" incredibly rare there, and not always better
* When experimenting durability...watch the HAM's & numbers carefully...all "great successes" are not created equal
