Hi all, I just got artisan, and surveying 1, and have no idea what to do, to get to novice armoursmith. I am the kind of guy who will either macro OR any other way. I would like some help in what to do. One question of mine is.. What did you all do to achieve Master Armour Smith? Thanks,
Darr of Eclipse
Well, so far you're on the right track. Getting Survey 4 done is a MUST, if you ever wish to compete in the AS market.
As for what to do, you want to graft misc. items such as bone armor segments, and basic weapons for the Engineering 1 box. As you progress up hte Engineering ladder, as soon as you can start crafting personal harvestors. This will be the fastest way to knockout Engineering 4 and go on to Armorsmith.
After you get Eng 4. You'll need to continue to grind Eng. items until you get enough xp to make Novice Armorsmith. When that happens, just go see an Armorsmith trainer and pick up novice. Then of course, you'll start crafting Armor components over and over again until you make master.
If you do not have an alternate character I would recommend picking up some Novice scout with hunting 1 and an elite melee profession as well. Keep in mind that most of your time will be spent aquiring resources and hides to make armor, not actually crafting.
Goodluck

Hi again, thank you for the advice, I am scout 41422, so that helps my cause some, I am a CH, and I have a rancor who does my fighting for me. Dont think though that since I have a rancor I'm rich, as it was given to me, and just a question how much is a good BER3 harvestor? I would like one, but how do I use it and where do I put it?
Personals you could get very cheap on the bazaars. Anywhere from 500 - 6000 credits usually.
You need to survey to the highest concentration you can, then just basically double click on it and it will open a new screen, just drop it when it shows up grown.
You will also need power though. You could pick up Wind Generators for about the same price, you will need to make a wind survey tool though. Upgrade to solar or fusion generators when you get the money then.
Mnd you, you can't be near a city when dropping the harvestors, as there is a no build area.

Thanks again, but how much does it cost for the matanience? (or however you spell it) The 60 creds an hour drained me the last time I had any kind of money.

Well, first off, I have virtually no credits at all, but I got a chem harvestor at a ber 4 and its 30 creds an hour. Do I need to have a wind generator to run it? if so, whats the mataniecne on that one?
Hehe. I know whats it like to start off from scratch. Wind Generators cost the same in maintenance, but require no power. I would harvest power first, can't run harvestors without it. Then start harvesting your minerals. Stick with basics: Steel, Iron, Aluminum, Fiberplast, Polymer.
You are going to have to do missions to help you pay maintenance, but make sure you have Scout while doing them. You not only get the cash to pay for your harvestors, but you could get hides and bone also.
Also, at least get Domestic Arts 1 so you could make your own Fiberplast Panels. When you are making Bone Armor, sell them VERY cheap on the bazaar. For example, a Bone Chest uses 242 total resource units. Sell them for 750 credits. Granted, you won't be making money just yet, but it will offset the costs of your resources.

Thank you Ryche, so, a wind generator is 30, and my harvestor is 30. What missions would you suggest I do? Lately I have been running to tatooine and doing the matriarch bantha missions. I can let my pet tank and I get some unarmed xp. Then I also get 16-50 wooly hide each, which I will need becoming an armoursmith - correct? They pay around 6k per lair. I am only engineering 1, so I cannot make bone armour, the chests I will be able to make at engineering IV.
But, one more question, the harvestors need power, and therefore should mine steel as you said, but then what is the wind generator good for? I made a wind survey device ( I think thats what theyre called) and I have a wind generator, but somehow I think when I looked at it last it was 60 creds an hour. Also, I got a ber 4 chemical harvestor, and when I examine it, it says it harvests "Liquid" is chemical? I am sampling for correlian fiberplast at the moment and am almost halfway to surveying III.
The wind generator harvests Wind Power. What you harvest from that goes into your normal harvestors. You can't run your harvestors without it.
Very good sampling for the Correlian Fiberplast, you might want to put down your Chemical Harvestor down also. You will be using lots of Fiberplast, you'll get a lot more than just sampling alone.
That is awesome you could get the 6k bantha missions (make sure to get 2 missions in the same direction, that way you do 2 missions every time you go out). Right now, you could use ANY type of hide in your armor. Personally, I would try and sell off the wooly hide, especially if it is very good you could find an armorsmith buying it on your trade forum (you could easily make 30cpu+ if its good). Then go and buy some very cheap hide from the bazaar. Resource Quality isn't too important right now for you.
At engineering 2, you'll be able to make Bone Gloves and Boots. They use 90 and 112 total resources respectively. So, sell em for like 300 credits and 350 credits.
Just remember to notget frustrated, its not easy becoming a successful Armorsmith. ![]()
