Thread: Farwell to Ubese?

Hi gang.

I am thinking about stopping my ubese production. This is a big deal for me since I make very good ubese. Its light (full suit can be worn unbuffed and unsliced) Its Strong (77% kinetic) but its now getting really expensive to make.

Here is the thing. Using cheap ingrediants I can make a suit of composite thats 80% Kinetic and 55 % base. The Stuff is heavy as hell but the market seems to only hunt buffed now. So my point is what is the use of ubese now

If I use lesser ingrediants in my ubese it comes out around 70% Kinetic 20% base but still the hides get expensive for it. If I use bad stuff its about 62% kinetic and 17% base. And no one would by it since ubese wears out so fast

With the coming vendor changes I could really use the space I am selling ubese with to sell the robo cop armor. But I LIKED ubese it was something different.

I don't bother to put really high quality resources into Ubese. Usually the iron, wooly hide, steel, fiberplast, etc. is stuff that was made obsolete by better spawns. I don't make very much money on it (gross about 5 mil from a full run), and I see it as more of a service to my customers.

BTW, I don't experiment on the base resists for Ubese. I feel the customer gets a better value if I experiment into durability, since that lowers the HAM and raises the condition. The Ubese I sell is usually around 73% base with a condition of almost 20K.

Hey I still use full suits of Ubese...I can't stand the HAM costs on Composite when I am fighting the average to high level PvE creature. I am hard pressed to find full suits anymore....150k is the best I could find on one vendor in 10 the other night for a full suit...One month ago a full suit was 130k....please keep making Ubese folks.

How many points do you put in to get 20k? hmm let me whip up a batch and try this.

I've been straying from ubese as well. I used to sell it as the low cost "grind" armor but quite frankly, I realized at some point it wasn't low cost. The simple truth is ubese wears out quite a bit faster than composite under the same conditions.

With buffs full heavy duty composite suits are totablly wearable, and less frustration in comparison to ubese.

But anyway I'm with ya, Ibarely make ubese anymore.

mine is 20k as well when i get an amazing on special protection. the base i no longer experiment on so its only 16-17 with 75%kinetic. I charge 100k for them cause its for people that are newer to the game and cant afford my ultralitgh 80%k/65b comp for 320k

I dont use my top wooly on it of corse but i use a fairly good recent stuff.

We sell 40-50 suits a week at a decent price. I'll tell ya, my partner is making padded now and his HAM is getting low enough that people are shifting to the padded at 76% kinetic 45% Base. Our Ubese is 76% Kinetic 20% Base.

I think Ubese will stick around, some people just swear by it!

Giving up ubese is a bad idea, however bringing your price up to cover your costs on hides is a real good idea.. Im putting out 75% kinetic and i think 17% base (no one really cares about the base resists on this stuff because its just grinding pve armor) and i put the rest of my points into lowering encumberance and coming out to about 20k condition, and charge 200k a suit.. On average i sell about 50 suits of this a week. However there is no way i would even bother with making and selling ubese if i was only getting 100k per a suit, as you pointed out hide prices are way too high for it to be worth the time at that price.

I sell a lot of Ubese, as it is the preferred armor for many people hunting on Dantooine. I try to keep it stocked, and at a reasonable price even though the margin is a bit lower on it than Composite. It's what the customers want.

Unfortunately, I think you will see less and less Ubese if the vendor limits are too restrictive when they go live. This will be a shame if this happens, but I know I won't be able to keep it in stock and still supply a couple of types of Composite.

I use pretty good leather in my Ubese but pretty low wooly, so mine end up around 74% Kinetic. I don't see much point in letting them go cheaply either even though they are worse, so mine are pretty highly priced compared to the competition. (Others may take 75-80k, I take 115k)

I see it as a convenience for my customers, and I'll probably continue to sell it after the vendor revamp. I've grinded (ground?) my alt up to Management IV so I'll have 12 vendors available, even though I might not need em. It'll probably be one vendor per armor type and a few more for comp. Like so:

Kinetic/Energy comp vendor, Stun comp vendor, Ubese vendor, Kashyyykian vendor, PSG/Other vendor, Storage Vendor. Hmm.. I'll be able to squeeze that in with just 6 vendors.

Ubese is nice for going PVE. You can take all those stupid kinetic mobs to school without losing much HAM or killing your HAM recovery with Composite.

I probably buy, use, and flat wear out a set of ubese every 2 weeks or so... But it's cheap, effective, and easy to get on Bloodfin.

Just my opinion.

I personally prefer padded. I'm getting 77% kinetic, 48% base and condition near 24000 on Chilastra. With some encumberance slices, it works out great. I'm finishing up a round of this for the guildies, then moving into production. I'll still make some Ubese, but I think padded may be the better armor with the resources we've had spawn on Chilastra.

I can't even make Ubese right now. Haven't been able to find any neutronium steel anywhere on Sunrunner. I'm sure the established smiths are hording stockpile. Once I find some or it spawns I can see how the stats compare and how much it costs to produce.

(ps...anyone on sunrunner with some neutronium steel they can let me in on? /wink)
