I just bought some Ubese armor and it says Im not healthy enough to wear all of it. Would my best option be to use stat migration? Would slicing help?

Slicing would help, make sure you tell your slicer you want to lower the encumbrance. Be aware that once you slice an item it cannot be repaired any longer.

Take a peek at the Advanced Armor Crafting Guide linked off the main SWG site.

If you really want to do stat migration, examine what the encumbrance is on your armor pieces (all added up). Then compare that to what your secondary statistics are (ie. Strength, Con, etc.) not the primary HAM pools. You need to have at least as many points in these secondary skills as what the encumbrance requires.

Ok, before the flames come, let me say that I'm posting here because I trust this forum more than the rifleman forum. That being said, currently my character is:

Human

Ranger 2/1/4/2

Rifles 2/1/1/2

Novice Medic

I am working toward Master Ranger/Master Rifleman.

I am looking to migrate my stats so that I can go unbuffed, unarmored, food only, no drugs. I don't want the 1100/1100/800 Mind template that is all the rage on the rifleman board. I have searched and came up with a template that Fred Skinner posted late last year, I migrated last night to that. I just wanted to throw up a flag and see if anything had changed or if there were any new ideas.

Thanks in advance!

I've heard many arguments for minimizing everything except the mind stats ... I've also heard the 1100/1100/800 arguments.

right now my stats are pretty even across the board. When it comes down to it I can handle my own without armor on, and when I throw on some armor, brandy / synth / vercupti I can go a pretty good distance.

I'm rarely killed in Loading ambushes by the cursed Corsec, and rarely can't escape with a quick burstrun from anything else.

Test out what you have and see what happens, currently though (with lower rifle skills) it might be hard to keep your mind in tact while specialing and healing yourself ... wait till you master ranger and rifleman before declaring a migration template useful / useless.

Im master ranger/master rifle/medic 1,0,0,0 and my stats are:

700

400

400

700

400

400

1000

700

700

thats what i think i have. I always use food, and use stims to heal wheni use my heavy weaponary whilst unbuffed. For example my t21 is 579 max (speed capped) un powered up however has large ham costs, it costs me health and action rather than mind (my mind buff is 2 brandy, 1 canape).

Whils buffed i dont need to heal, soi can spam regardless (prety pointless)

I have the same template, and my stats are exactly the same... On second thought, I might have +100 to HA and -100 to Focus/Willpower... but otherwise almost identical.

Weird, huh?

Oh, and one thing to counter the HAM costs: something that a lot of people don't necessarily think of is to use a good Laser Rifle when possible. I honestly don't need my uber T21 for killing Whisper Birds on Yavin for their meat --my Laser will suffice. In the long run, that saves me a lot of stims from healing myself after a few headshots with the T21.But only really applies to us non-buffers.

Yeah i know what you mean about the laser rifles, i too use them when not needed, however ive got stocked laser rifles topping 685max so they have high ham costs. Not the same as the stock t21s but still much higher than the my normal t21s.

I am a rifleman. I'm human and have the basic scout stats.
I've never changed them, because i can use 2 brandy and so far it won't kill my mind pool. By the time my mind pool is empty I have to use a stim for my action and mind, so it works quite good for me.
