Made 17 suits of Chitin the other day at 58% Kinetic and 20k to 21k con. Ham is insane for 9 pieces only 274, 272, 341 would love to make more considering chitin is prob the second coolest looking armor next too padded with a composite helm. But, its nice I usechitin when I'm out gathering resources. Too be honest this should be the #1 hunting armor but it is somewhat difficult to make compared to Ubese. Ubese just falls apart too fast. I was thinking of making a high con version of Ubese to sell, but I worry people will only look at the Kin% which mine is bout 76%. Could be 78% but I hold back my best wooly.

For the heck of it I played with some mabari using my best resources and hit 30% base. I just wish they would give the lower armors more con.

Hello!

Just to let you know I made a set of chitin for me also at 72% kinetic. It is the best for PVE.

I tough I was the only one to love chitin.

What I meant was if I put less points into the kinetic, and more into the condition. Say it turned out 25k condition but only 66% Kinetic instead of 20k con and 76% kinetic.

The problem and any and all of these is the price point. You use the precious Woolythat could have been used in composite, which brings a better price.

At the end of the Holo grind era, afk crafting had takin ground hard core, so now you have a huge influx of 10 pointer AS out there that will make and sell 80% kinetic/63-66% base composite for 285-300k.

Good buffs make your ham scores on Ubese and Chitin a non-issue with regards to grinding out professions with critters on Endor, Dant, Yavin, ect. So there's no point in buying the armor with the lower condition and lower resists, just to save 100k.

The economy is another issue, 100k is so easy to come buy, people will choose th Composite 90% of the time, since it is clearly a better piece of armor. Those who I found that bought Chitin or Tantel, where merely buying for fashion and didn't intend on using it in a real since.

The HAM of an armor, really isn't a big issue. So a 12 point can make a 760 HAM and a 10 point a 940 HAM... 200 points for argument sake. Well, lol that's the difference between a 2300 buff or a 2500 buff or finding +722 canape over the more common +620 canape. The difference in good brandy or a finding a entertainer that has musical and dance enhnacements.

Yeah but saving 4 to 600 mind ham is like not having to take a brandy at all, something riflemen and other mind cost heavy professions would really appreciate, as even with midn buffs, mind drops like a brick while fighting.

I made chitin back in the day and made 66%, nobody could touch it. Was backordered for weeks, as it could be put on in a pinch for quick protection without searching out buffs, looked cool, wasn't composite, and was inexpensive still compared to composite. I will be making it again for sure when i pick asmith back up in november.

Kudos to another chitin producer

Yes its worth it for the whole idea of not having to bother with canape at all, Without a mind buff i need to take 2 canape and a brandy to stop my mind from depleting right now so getting rid of a brandy may not sound like much but i really do get through that stuff like nobodies business. I keep experimenting with other armours....It just saddens me to only see Ubese and Composite up for sale these days.

kinda off the subject, but have you tried Ahrisa? It's not as strong as canape, and only affects focus (special action drain)... But it lasts about40 minutes, instead of 10, so they're much easier to keep in synch with brandy. Canape at 10 minutes just drops too fast, and you can buy and hold 4x less in your inventory...

considering only hit points that pass the armor are damaging the item, your armor probably lasts longer with higher kinetic then withhigher condition.

just do the math:

a 66% kinetic armor gets damaged by 34% of the damage given by the attacker.

a 76% kinetic ubese gets damaged by only 24% of damage given by the attacker.

so a 76% kinetic ubese gets 30% less damaged then a 66% kinetic ubese.

and i bet you dont have 30% more condition on your 66%ubese then on your 76% ubese

i hope this isnt to confusing

oh i have to mention that i never verified this, thats only the information i got from guides and forums put together.

would be cool to do some testing on this

"Yeah but saving 4 to 600 mind ham is like not having to take a brandy at all...."

I make 80% Kinetic comp (65% Base) that hits 518 / 451 / 545 total HAM. With encumberance slices, it's possible to get mind HAM for the entire set in the 300's. I personally think this is the best hunting armor...way better than ubese or chitin...

A) Higher condition

B) Higher defense to kinetic

C) Higher defense to other resist types (how many of you goofballs leave your ubese or chitin on when NPC's start firing energy weapons at you...shame on you!...nothing will gank a set of ubese or chitin quicker) ...this, I think, is the most important reason. When I'm out hunting critters, sometimes I just can't avoid getting popped a few times by NPC's I swoop by (energy damage) or by creature ranged damage (acid damage). The 15-25% protection offered by ubese or chitin is pretty much pointless, and only ends up damaging the armor faster. The 65% offered by composite means I can leave the armor equipped without having to worry about 80%-ish armor decay.

Ok well, of course comp is king, you arent saying anything new. But, its overkill for normal hunting and usually close to 300k a suit. But on the other hand doesnt wear out as fast.
