Thread: Do 100% Armor Repair Kits work 100% of the time?

It's been my experience that the 98% armor repair kits work less than 50% of the time (if that). I don't have any of the new 100% rated armor repair kits that I've heard are out there, so I was wondering if anyone has had a repair failure while using one of these kits? Please post your experience here-

Using a 100% repair kit in the field by a character with zero crafting abilities:

5 for 5 success with maximum condition reduced.

"... with minor blemishes" would have been a better result, right?

Obviously not much as far as statistical sample sizes are concerned, but it's a start.

I think you have like a 60% chance of fully fixing somethingwith a100% repair kit. Not quite sure how repair works though, it seems pretty random some days.

After the patch I've only used 100% tools, so far no critical failures on quite alot of repairs. I might be lucky, or they have changed the system, or 100% means no crits. I have not yet tried with my old 99.406 tools since I don't want to deliberately risk any armor.

I seem to get the normal rate of maximum condition reduced and all the other results, except the crits as noted above.

On a sidenote, what do you charge for your 100% tools compared to your tools in the 90's?

It's more than just random, it's flawed.

I challenge anyone to prove to me as a master armorsmith you can fix armor better than a rifleman. Because I have to say I can't tell who does a better job....

Armorsmiths have a higher success rate... They can still botch a repair however...

There are 2 rolls made when repairing armor/weapon/clothing...

First roll is treated like experimentation rolls (minor blemish being the great success)... Masters have a higher success rate than novices, who in turn have a better success rate than a non-skilled player...

Second roll is how fully the item is repaired... 99.99% tool allows for up to 99.99% of maximum condition (or stats for those mistreated items)... After the type of repair is determined by the previous roll the tool's limits are applied... Say i minor blemish a weapon whose max condition is 935... Using a 99.99% tool I would repair the weapon to 934 max... The 99.99% is not a constant as even at master there is a slight variance in the results...

Usually I see a 1-2% loss on items I've repaired and have never completely ruined an item unless it was at 0 condition... My other chrs on the other hand HAVE toasted several when trying minor repairs...

The skill mods may not be visable on the skill sheet but they ARE there... This is one reason Jedi sabers were exempted from failures... Jedi do not get these modifiers...

Cool thanks for the info... if anyone else has anything, post here!

So far there are no confirmed cases of outright failures using 100% repair tools, although they don't guarantee the 'minor blemish' result.

Keep on posting-

In my experience, this is not the case. My MBH chews through weapons and armor, so I end up repairing all of it myself. I get a lot of requests from people to repair their armor, and I don't feel like explaining to them that it doesn't matter, so I just do it free of charge.

I don't have hard statistics, by my qualitative accessment is that my MBH does just as well at repairs as my MAS does.

Please post a link to official information declaring this

Becuase I have yet to see anything but SPECULATION and RUMOR that confirms this THEORY.

I have seen absolutely no evidence of this ingame when repairing items with my 2 different toons (one being a 12pt armorsmith)

In my experience, its completely dependent on the quality of the tool, and the condition of the piece.
