Thread: Krayt Scales Useful? Need an AS opinion

I have some krayt scales that I picked up in a big trade of higer value items, my question is this, are krayt scales any good to put in armor? they say that it would enhance a layer or something to that effect, no specific armor is named, and there are 10 identical pieces (serial # too). Should I use them in the new wookie armor? are they even good to use? thanks for your input!

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell

yeah, those aren't too useful. Most people don't want em for composite, cause they push so many resists into special, which means that they don't increase with a slice anymore. The one place I have heard of them used was in RIS before it was less buggy. Cause it stopped the stat shift in those types of resists. Still, I don't think anyone would pay much for em. Find a good armorsmith on your server who will help you make a custom suit using them, and they might be able to help you come up with a good use for em, but otherwise, I woudn't worry about em too much.

What are the stats?

Without that info, it is impossible to tell their value. If they are lower %, like 4-6%, they aren't worth much, but if higher, could be worth lots.

They also push the resists to special which means they cannot be sliced...So knowing the stats would really be important.

The stats are something like 4%-7% on cold, heat, energy, blast, and acid I think.

They bump ubese up though. Most servers have 76% kinetic ubese. Since it's special anyway, and no one really wants a resist slice, krayt scales are the way to hit 80% kinetic, at no extra ham cost.

Great...thanks for the info. I was just given a set and wondered if it would be worth using in composite. The resists aren't great, so I won't bother.

I'm now dying to get back on and make a set of Ubese though.

I used the ones I saved up with some stun layers in my segments and boosted my resist up 4 percent on most stats. I'm hoping for an encumbranceslice. Iuse to make 37%stun and 61% base. Now its 37% stun and 65%special all. It would really suck ifI get aEFF slice. It would be useful for some one looking for decent protection and stun with low ham if you can get it sliced encumbrance.

Even the 4% can be useful if someone is Ultra concerned about HAM. They will boost your resists and allow you to troll for Encumberance slices.

Have made plenty of Mabari Hats as mentioned above with the 4% -ish Krayt . Covered up many holes and seriously made for very usable ultra -low-HAM helms.

Krayt Scales are useful for, don't laugh, bone armor. Bone armor is vastly under rated. It has good energy resist but lots of vulnerabilities. Krayt scales move a lot of those vuln to resists.

Im not laughing.....(ok, maybe just a little)

I agree, that bone is good for energy, and with the new bone enhancement thing in the Geo lab, it is pretty useful in some roles.

However, These resists (acid/cold/heat/etc...) aren't seen often excpet for PvP...adn if someone is wearing bone for PvP they deserve to be laughed at. I woudn't pay for these scales, but they do make for some interesting armor choices.
