Thread: Gated vs. Non Gated Resources

Well, the gate ONLY applies if the gated resource is named in schematic, like alantium ore in energy layers or beyrllius copper in advanced battle cores. If you were to use those in a slot calling simply for ore or copper, they would be measured against an SR of 1000. So it's almost always better to use nongated resources when named resources aren't required because they'll have the potential for higher shock resistance.

I guess I don't understand you here, Pyke. I mean, if a schematic calls for Copper, you're going to have to put a named resource in there (since there are no generic Coppers out there) so the specific resource you're going to use is going to be gated anyway. Unless you're referring to the named resources introduced with JTL.

well all resources are named for starters what he means is use a resource that you dont need ie mythra copper use another copper that doesnt require you using up a resource you need for something else

he basically saying use a resource that has no gate with a high oq/sr instead of one with an sr maxed out at 576

personally i dont think it matters as long as its a good resource

If the schematic calls for a named resource then use best you can find. If it calls for a generic resource, use the best one you can find

The schematic slot for bery copper uses different sr gates to a schematic slot calling for generic copper

When I say named resource, I mean the schematic calls for a very specific type: kammris iron instead of iron or metal or Dathomir fiberplast instead of just fiberplast. What he's wondering, I think, is if he should use a very good gated resource in a "generic" slot. I used beyrllius copper and alantium ore as examples because they are limited to low SR. You would not use these resources in a generic slot (like segment ingredients) because the game will not see them as a gated resource and will measure their stats against the 1000 point scale.

On the other hand, gated resources such as kammris iron, vertex gemstone, and vintrium ore have gates on the LOW end of their shock resistance, ensuring they will always be over 900. So that makes these gated resources excellent for all uses, but only because they do well on the 1000-point scale by their very nature.

That pretty much sums it up. Just know what the gates are so you can properly judge a resource's quality.

Is it better to use gated or non gated resources? Will it produce the same desired result?
