I have really been spending alot more time on my AS toon these days, I have suddenly had enuff of FS grinding and wanted to start building up some nice armor.

One thing I just cant seem to do is get more than 7004 Energy on Quad Layored, I seem to get restricted by conversion points as my Base caps. Example, if my base is 5600 from Core I get a final craft with +400 to Kinetic and Energy. But if I get 5749 base, as i get now, i am only getting +251 Kinetic and Energy.

I have seen some AS's with well over this with capped base, or some who havnt capped baseand still get a much higher Energy.

So the question is;

1) How do you get a Higher Energy with Capped Base?

2) How do I get less base so I can increase my Energy?

Would it make a difference if I used 1 Primus and rest Energy? As this will reduce the Base enabling me to get at extra points for Energy? But at the same time the Energy will be reduced by about 40 points, so wouldnt that equal out with base?

I have tried every mathematical equation to answer this myself but I just cant!

All the resources I use are very high end on each Layer, Segment and Core, at least 3 resourcesI use from 30K deeds as I only make RIS and special customs so I make the money back quite comfortably. I am also a 12pt, so I max out on experimenting with about 2/3 points for condition.

I am not asking because I wantbe "better" than everyone else and parade my stats so people come rushing to me, I just want to give my customers the best possible stats for their hard earncash.

Any advise will be very much appreciated!

To understand how this works, you need to completely seperate the way you think about layers from segments/cores.

Basically, your quad-energy-layered armor will be 12 * energy_layered_exp_percentage higher energy protection than the unlayered armor you use with the same segment/core resources.

So if you normally hit the cap (6k energy) on unlayered battle armor, and you experiment yourlayers to 90%, you can expect somewhere around 7080 (6000 + 12*90) energy protection.

So to answer your questions,

1) To get higher energy protection you need to use better layer resources as your base is already capped.

2) This won't work. You cannot get better energy protection by using inferior cores or segments.

As Nixen said, you have to consider cores and layers separately. Yes, if you hit 5600 special protection on your unlayered cores, you'll get a 400 point boost upon assembly. But if you have a 5750 special protection core, you'll only get a 250 point boost becuase you can't exceed the cap of 6000. It doesn't matter how you move the special protection around using layers; the game looks at the unlayered stats of the core.

So this first thing to do is use a capped core. Getting special protection to 5600 or a little better is all you need to do. Then improve your energy layers. You need to be able to experiment them to at least 84 percent to get that magic +1000 (1008 really) to energy. That is the number that will add to the energy and subtract from the kinetic resists of your capped cores.
