I go kimo hunting every once and awhile and I was wondering if they are any good for an AS?

typically no, as the stuff we make ourselves tends to be better most of the time. Really depends on the stats to be honest

Add 400 to the stats on the core, and you'll get the stats of the armor made using them. Then ask yourself if you'd buy that armor.

Some of them can be useful. I've seen looted cores that I was able to get the final armor up to 5800+ base... only 200 from the unlayered cap. It makes for some pretty good, low cost grind armor.
Other uses would be.... for newer/lower level players who dont want to have all the encumbrance of high-level armor. I dont know of many (any?) armorsmiths who are actively making lower-level armor from harvested resources... it just isn't worth the time and effort.

someone brought mesome and wanted a set of marauder, it came out with 10k higher condition than my best crafted stuff. ive not had an opportunity to test further but it struck me as odd, could have been a fluke.

Nope, not a fluke... armor crafted from looted cores DOES have higher condition. Why? Um... no clue.

I made RIS with 108k condition out of kimo loot cores. The resists were 5870...I didn't think that was so bad...maybe not for PvP when you want every edge possible, but great for my needs for PvE.
