I am sure several of you have played around with RIS layers for use in other armors and was wondering if you could be so kind to post some results.
What kind of HAM / base % can you expect to see when experimentingfirst on base and leftovers into encumbrance?

Since resources obviously plays a role, could you give an indication on the quality (if you dont remember the details) as well.
I would haveoffered you some results myself if I could, but just can't get hold of any Oridium Intrusive ore (got rid of the horrible stuff I used to do the quest)
Thank you!
(PS. I am sure I am not the only one who wonders what kind of role encumbrance will play after the CURB)

I have some Composite I've made using 3% base -8 HAM RIS layers. It's on display at my shop. I made a glove with 0-HAM and 90% base Woot! I've made 3 Chestplate so far and got all encumbrance slice. YUK! I got a Helm with 83% base and 0/0/235HAM, and a pair of boots with 86% base with 1/1/0 HAM.
But to answer your question. With the best resources we have on Shadowfire you should get the max encumbrance of -8 and 3% base. I'm able to make 4% layers with 0-HAM.

its strange, when experimenting the encumbrance on the layers you get a huge mod shift if you max out the bar.... so i just max bar to -7/-7/-7 then dump remaining exp pts into base for about 3.25%
This lets me make 67% base 76% electric comp.... gloves are only 0/0/0 if I use ns shards.
Made a pair of boots with 15/28/14 shards and after eff slice had 0/4/0 ham, 85% base and 76% electric. I put on vendor for like 3m... sold same week lol.

Thanks for the info Jettli
I assume you add in a Janta Hide to get a better chance at the 90% base.
If you have any Esivsis left I would be delighted if I can purchase it from you.
Oh, and I hope you didn't miss that auction because of me...

I use 5% NS layers and some teen NS shards in conjunction with 2 RIS layers. You can use 1 RIS layers but you're gonna have to use twenties' shards. Which I preffer to use it on RIS armor for that. I'm aiming for a full set with 90% base and HAM in the 200's so I'm gonna need the remaining of intrusive ore. You might have to break out the 30k resource deed. I thinking RIS layers will be a big thing after CU. Less HAM mean faster special from what I'm thinking.

I have a crate of RIS layers that I save for RIS (when I have good enough NS layers to make up for the loss in base).
I had a double amazing in experimentation using 6 points in each of the two bars. The encumbrance bar went to 74% and displays -6/-6/-6. The resist bar also went to 74% so it's very close to 4%.
For using layers in composite (which I love and can attest to very similar results to previous posters in this thread), I generally experiment the same way: 6 points in each of the 2 bars. Occasionally I'll get an amazing in one of the bars. I typically hit 68% base on composite pieces made with these layers and one or more of the encumbrances hit 0 (enhancer was base -10 NS shards).

I love fooling with RIS layers myself but the consensus still seems to be that Peko feathers are needed for something (RIS obviously). I see them still selling for like 50k+ a piece. Hell maybe ill hunt some Pekos. Can a solo rifleman take em out?

Good thing I made about 10 crates of RIS layers... still have a set of 11 feathers too.
Played with this before and made a pair of comp gloves that had 68% base and 0/0/5. That was using 2 RIS layers and a NS layer that was 8% I believe. Used an NS shard that was -10/-10/-10 just for testing purposes. All and all, was able to sell a couple like this for 250k ea, unsliced. Sold one that was sliced with the base up to 87% for 500k though....

I'm not sure, but I'd think so. The problem is their nasty kd+dizzy. I've taken them down as an unbuffed pistoleer, but it took hella long time using pistol bleeds and feign death hehe. The easiest for soloing them is clearly swords, what with their low blast resist.

I am just sooo lucky...
I used your formula Jettli, made some gloves with 3/0/5 HAM and 79%/70% resist. Then my smuggler friend sliced it too 90% base...
That alone was worth breaking a Crate for.
