Doubtful.

But the unexpected has been known to occur.

They have a pretty solid armor system coming that address what you have here basically, just more versatile.

The Combat Upgrade promises us rebalance as far as damage mitigation and making armor interesting for all. With that, I’ve drawn up a possible mitigation chart for armor based on current knowledge found in CU articles, leaks, and knowledge about Star Wars Galaxies.
Currently, In game, we have: Bone, Mabari, Chitin, Tantel, Padded, Composite, Ubese, R.I.S., Storm Trooper, Rebel Marines, the new factional armor, and the lootables such as Bounty Hunter which I will touch upon later.
As stated by the developers, come the rebalance, damage will be broken into two primary groups: kinetic and energy. Not only are the weapons based this way; I believe they will still utilize the damage mitigation system and incorporate it into each set of armor as they see fit. As well, now incorporated is a system of armor skill point certification which will indefinitely governs the rate at which people can take on creatures. No more seeing Novice Brawlers with Composite Armor – maybe no more seeing A LOT of people not wearing Composite Armor. So, in the beginning, people will be forced to wear Bone armor, Mabari, maybe not even Chitin. With this stated, here are my predictions on the primary sets of armor that we’ll see out just to give some examples:

Bone Armor: Mitigation None
Bone Armor will have no mitigation, yet will be required to grind low level professions, because they are tweeking all stats to make armor usable. They will try to make this more appealing to beginning Marksman, yet remember this is light armor and I think that kinetic vul maybe removed.

Mabari Armor: Mitigation None
Mabari Armor likewise with bone armor, is for beginners, light weight, expect to see it around a lot after the upgrade.

Chitin Armor: Melee Mitigation 1
Certification I would given at maybe 3 or 4 of the brawler. Yet again, they are fixing up all the stats on armor, so there’s going to be a lot of App. Swordsman rocking the Chitin.

Tantel Armor: Ranged Mitigation 1
This is the counterpart of Chitin, for ranged professions at 3 or 4, likewise.

Ubese Armor: Melee Mitigation 2
This seems to be the Elite profession melee grinding armor.

Padded Armor: Ranged Mitigation 2
Ranged Elite prof. Grinding armor.

Composite Armor: Ranged Mitigation 3 Melee Mitigation 2
The certification for Comp armor now is going to be very extreme. Due to leaks hear from multiple sources of the CU, believe or not. Only 3 or so Master Professions will be able to sport this armor. Master Bounty Hunters to combat Jedi, Master Commandos due to their slow attack speed, and Master Smugglers due to their Underworld Connections and lack to love in revamp. The mitigation on the armor maybe some of the best in the game, but expect encumbrances to not to matter. After the CU, encumbrances of armor are still unknown but I guarantee you, you will not be god in composite armor anymore.

Storm Trooper and Rebel Marine Armor:Melee and Ranged Mitigation 1
These armors were just for looks anyways right ?

Renascence Armor: Ranged Mitigation 3 Melee Mitigation 1
New light factional armor, please excuse the spelling, SOE removed the link on the swg site, I wonder why. This armor is very good against energy and poor against kinetic.

Battle Armor: Ranged and Melee Mitigation 2
New medium faction armor, pretty good for both, not the best, not the worst. Enough said.

Assault Armor: Melee Mitigation 3 Ranged Mitigation 1
New heavy factional armor engineered to take on any kinetic damage but does poorly against energy.

R.I.S. Armor Mitigation 3 and 2 of Armor smith’s Choice
I believe this might be the reason why it will be one of the best suits of armor in the game if this system is used. The Armor Smith has a choice of crafting the R.I.S. armor either Ranged 3/Melee 2 or Melee 3/Ranged 2. Either way, I’m looking forward for it.

Bounty Hunter Armor: Ranged and Melee Mitigation 2?
Throw us loot guys a bone. With majority of BH armor looted at 10%-20% base, I wonder what they are going to do. I’d really love to see them turn Bounty Hunter armor into some battle armor at least. Just a wish…

Mandalorian Armor: Ranged and Melee Mitigation 3
No questions if this system is used, this WILL be the best armor in the game, the lightest and best for fighting jedi, if not anything.

That concludes this tale of Mitigation and Armor. I honestly formulated this for a while now, and it struck me that I had to write it down right as I woke up this morning, so here it is. I hope everyone likes it. Regarding citing works: for my armor information: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=armorsmith&message.id=42983. All CU info is directly from the swg updates. The factional armor update is seemingly deleted, but I’m sure most of you saw it lol. Any comments, questions, and flames are welcome. I'm not an Armorsmith, just a man with many thoughts. I've spent much time on this, and originally wrote this for the tempest boards but figured I definitely should share this with you guys. Be please constructive. I worked hard.
