So I am going over things bout assault armor here, and i have to say it looks pretty grim for it. Yeah it gets kinetic protection, which makes it awesome for pvp'ers, yet assault armor suffers from a woefully unfortanute set of problems.
#1: Resources.
Oh boy, advanced assault calls for some pretty anoying resources, though they all do. Dantoine wooly is a pain to get to start, and mythra copper has a pretty low shock resistance cap, but the worst I think is the dathomir fiberplast. Pretty nasty, especially trying to convince us poor crafters with a CL of 1 to go to dathomir to get fiberplast. I fear for my life just going to the village, but to look for a pocket of fiberplast to mine! *yikes*
#2: Usage
My friend who sells way more then I do had a total of one sale of assault armor. Why? 'cause hardly anyone uses it. Only three professions are certified for assault armor, and they are hybrid elite profs (requiring two seperate novice profs) commandos, bounty hunters, and squad leaders.
Looks to me like 1/3 of armor is going to see very very very light usage if any at all. Especially sicne those who are certed in it are probably also certed in another type of armor. And if they have to pay more for assault armor, or pickup a cheaper armor they will pick the cheaper armor.

On the flip side I got the best stats of all the armors I made (imp faction armor) on the assault. Used kinetic layers and the final kin is in the 8000s. Granted it wont be used as much, its still nice stuff!

Yep..the Dant wooly is a killer. I hadn't thought about the hybrid elite profs, but it does seem like in my guild people are asking for battle and recon. I made one set of assault armor tonight, but the guy had looted assault cores.

All good points, although I'd say that Dantooine Wooly is actually quite easy to get (huurtons all the way), and Dathomirian Fiberplast is best gotten in the tar flats.
What is really inane about Assault Armor is that with BHs having certification for it, and lightsabers doing energy damage, most Jedi-hunting BHs will trend towards Reconaissance Armor.
The kinetic bonus is good for anyone who's primarily hunting creatures, I suppose. MBH / MRangers FTW.

I don't really know about dant wooly beeing harda killer, not any more than naboo bistley or lokian leathery. As it is now you can get missions for level 80 huurtons, these drop more than 400 hides each. I spent some time on dant yesterday to learn the ropes of the combat system and havested wooly at the same time (as they are fairly good right now) and got over 20k solo.
If anything it's the nabooian bristley that will be the problem as naboo being a starter planet you can't get missions over level 10 or there.

I agree... i think the devs need to revise and at least try and make the resources able to get..

agreed. Im just starting to look at what types of armor to make and I am leading toward Prima Battle and Prima or Energy Assult.
I plan to make some Battle Kinetic for PVE'ers but I doubt I will make any Assult armor at all.
