As of the May 10 hotfix they've changed how resource weighting works.. again. Here is how it affects you, and with an example:
Gated resources now have no lower bound, which makes it easier to calculate how good something is. For example a copper with an SR range of 617 - 706 will now count SR as value / 706. This means that the worst possible SR on such a copper is 617/706, or 87.4% optimal, whereas with the old new system it would have been 0% Optimal.
Here is an example with mythra coppers from Naritus:
Pre-CU: Omnisowanedeian 79.7%, Fadaeian 79.4%, Tepitaris 76.4%, Aogioka 74.5%, Durateroium 73.2%
Pre-May10: Durateroium 76.6%, Aogioka 76.4%,Fadaeian 75.7%
Post-May10: Omnisowanedeian 93.5%, Fadaeian 93.4%, Tepitaris 89.5%, Aogioka 88.7%, Durateorium 87.4%
Basically, any resource gathering after CU before May 10 is now potentially rendered useless, but any stockpiled resources from pre-CU will now most likely be better. Notice how the quality follows the same order Pre-CU and Post-May10. Basically you can now do (OQ+SR)/2 and see how good something is, even if it isn't how far you can experiment it.
Back to the drawing board people! Now I have to regather all new CU resources.
Edit: It isn't quite (OQ+SR)/2, since the SR ranges now are a bit different. But basically with stuff OQ950+ it holds true. It is (OQ/1000+SR/MAX_SR)/2.

It's not really gonna affect me either way. I did my resource collection for the CU based on the old OQ/SR formula. Then I realized that things had changed and quickly managed to track down and swap those resources where this change had a real impact. Funny thing is, those resources were pretty much resources that were not considered good pre-CU, so I got them for like 1-5cpu. It'll be easy enough to resell those resources and recover the loss. What I'm wondering here is that, since you're pretty much getting a boost on all those resources, won't that make it even easier to hit the cap? I'm just short of hitting the cap on my advanced cores and I'm in no way using the best resources that I could possibly use. I just might hit the cap with those resources after the servers go up. Good for my customers I suppose, but I fear armor will soon end up being like BER13 heavy harvesters.

Yes, I've checked through all named inorganics used with OQ/SR now and overall I can reach much higher experimentation, but my resources I gathered are not always the best. (Even if the now experiment better than they did before may 10)
I'm just glad I didn't get all the resource trades I was hoping for, saved my bacon. I'm in pretty good shape except for Neutronium Steel and Ditanium Steel where I traded away some of my best resources. Still, since Imp PSG:s are not factory producable any more I just need a few k of ditanium really. I'll have to talk to the guy I traded all my Iwiako with.
I have however blown a few million on resources that are not too good now, but since I didn't use any resource crates at least I should be able to recoup those losses.

I don't like the thought, that a ressource with 1000 oq and 300 sr could be better than a ressource with 1000 oq and 900 sr...

think this mainly applies for name resources such as alantium carbonate, etc
could be wrong.... but hey thats my take at least... glad they at least made the gating a lil less complicated

Good to hear..... I guess. Just spent like 15million gathering good gated resources. Once again, the lack of communication from the devs gets a two thumbs down.
"87.4% optimal, whereas with the old new system it would have been 0% Optimal."
By the way, there's only one optimum.... 100%

Uh, yeah.. if you want you can add an "of" inbetween. I didn't think it was needed.

Getting real tired of this crap. Wish they would just pick a system and stick to it....
