hello everyone...i don't post on the armorsmith forums much btw. i have a concern...the devs put in the ability for ppl to change their composite colors months ago because they screwed it up and needed everyone to get back to what they had...it was supposed to me gone in what 2 weeks from when they put it in?...well its still ingame as i know everyone is aware of it. my concern is, i liked it better when it was out of game, sure it was a pain to not be able to change ur color if u were the consumer, and it is nice doing big runs of comp all the same color not being concerned. But my prob with it is, it limits competition. i know some people would settle buying armor from different people because the color they wanted was in stock, or they custom ordered a suit of a neat pattern of colors to stand out. Bottom line is...i think it takes out a huge aspect of armor making...making it much more narrow...and taking out a big way to advertise your warez.....i just think the benifits of it being out of game outwiegh it being ingame. but please voice your opinions as well..i am interested in knowing if anyone else feels the same way.

I hate to comment on someone else's board but since I AM a consumer then my opinion should count for something. Making the colors unchangeable would just frustrate me.

It's not a HUGE deal to me, but I like the ability to switch armor color without having to buy another, ridiculously expensive, ridiculously hard to findset. Armor, unfortunately, has become such a necessity for me to survive any sort of encounter I rarely even bother with clothes when I role-play non combat encounters. My armor has become my clothing, I guess.

Having it so you can't change it is terrible. Before that "fix" everyone had either black or red comp, with a few blue and green sets here and there. At least now you see some more diversity in the colors. Before armorsmiths really only made about 5-6 different colors total if they were doing factory runs.

My personal opinion is it should be pulled completely, and put back to the armorsmiths. But then I'm also a tailor, and actual prefer doing most things by hand, not in huge factory runs.

My second choice would be to allow armorsmiths to make armor coloring kits, that anyone can use to color their armor.

These would have to be permanent changes, not like the very weak vehicle and droid customization kits.

But the free color changes have to go away... it was a bug fix, and while alot of people may like it, it needs to stop. I know most people would like it sony gave everyone a force sensitive slot, but I don't see them doing that.

I like it as-is. I would absolutely despise having to worry (again) about losing a sale because of color. One thing I've discovered though is that a lot of people don't realize that they can change the color. I have a lot of people send me tells asking about a certain color piece of armor, and when I tell them they can get a piece off of my vendor and change the color they are surprised. That's why I make a note on my bagged sets of armor what the color is, but remind the customer that they can change it after they buy.

i agree i also mark on my bags what color it is...and i agree before armorsmiths were only making bulk amounts of a few colors.....but the profession is also about custom orders and those can be whatever colors the ppl want...and now that they know what choices there are...should be easier for them...i just want to bring back more options into the armorsmith prof. I think armor should look cool, as well as protect well...i liked the fact we had some control over that and use it to an advertising advantage....but yes i have mix feelings on the issue as well. keep the opinions coming guys!

It ought to stay in the game. Perhaps actually put in a kit and bring it into the fold of a normal in-game customization. I like that.

But as it existed before just sucked. 90% of everyone who wore composite... wore black. The other 10% had another color, but most of it, is crap. There was no color diversity in the game till players were allowed to change the color themselves.

I'm a master AS and I say LEAVE IT IN !!!

I hate having to make different runs for different colors and like the fact that anyone can buy any piece off my vendor and change it to the color they like.

Best approach would probably be to make artisan-craftable armor recoloring kits or something like that, that worked with all armor types.

I would never be able to find my prefered color- the oxidized, weathered chrome look. I dont see it as a very popular choice so I would have to do all special orders probably, which would suck. I would hate tobe forcedto sport thepopularfreshly paintedfrom the factory look. My effort to try and stand out in the composite world is to lack a paint job...

I like the coloring ability a lot. Its a cool ability to just switch colors and patterns whenever you want. Also makes orders easier as the customer can pick the color themselves if them don't like the default. I have another character who is a figher and needs lots of armor. I had to buy from several different smiths cause most didn't have complete suits on their vender, and would have had a rather ugly suit if I couldn't change the color myself. I really never had a problem with sales, in fact they have been increasing more lately. Who had what color available has never been a concern for me. I would have delt with the ugly suit on my other character, but I didn't have to. Its just cool.

The issue I have with it being pulled from the game is that it is already extremely hard to find an armorsmith to do custom orders. Very few do it because of the time it takes to produce 1 suit of 9 pieces.

Tailoring is completely different IMO. The only thing people have to choose from for a piece of clothing is the color. For armor it is color, resists, encumberance. I'm pretty sure if I had a choice between 60% base and 55% base I would pick the 60% base anyday no matter the color. Not too hard to make a macro to put better looking clothing on when I go out in public.

I buy new cloths every month or 2. It costs me a whole 30k at most. A set of armor is 500-600k for the normal stuff I buy. Huge difference there.

If they remove the option I'll live with it. I'll care less about the color at that point though because most people will still make Black or Red and I'll buy that. Getting a custom color is a nightmare and not worth the trouble at all. That not armorsmiths fault, its SOEs for making crafting a full set of armor so time intensive.
