Thread: So quality of Wookie padded segs don't matter?

I read in a few posts that the tailor padded segs give the same final result no matter if they are 2% base or 4%. Is this true? Just wanted to know before giving high quality hides to a tailor when average hides will do for a schematic.

I will test this over the weekend. I puched myself to Fieldware 3 to get the ability to make padding. I was only able to get to 1% base. A fellow armorsmith gave me some that are 3%. So, I will make a couple of pieces and compare. Look back here Sat. Have a RL gaming group tonight, so I will not test until Satuday.

As I said before, there has been no difference in any stat between 2% and 4%base armor padding. I don't know what exactly is going on.

I can't log on this weekend, but I would be very curious to find out if this is true with the encumbrance as well. If anyone has the time (and a tailor with a fair amount of experimentation points) I would be appreciative if you could do some tests onthis issue.

I had a schem made up, and found it to be base 3%. I was getting 50% Kinetic 20% base on my wookie armor. Upon testing some Armor Padding I was getting 50%/21% so the base did go up by one % on all stats.

A little better hide, and I'm up to 51%/23% now. And that's using 4% base Armor Padding.

Okay, I am Master AS with 0304 in tailoring and this is what I came up with making Kashyyykian Ceremonial Bps:

(4% base with 7/8/7 HAM padding segments)
56% kinetic
22% base
142/67/100 HAM

(1% base with 2/3/2 HAM padding segments)
56% kinetic
20% base
137/62/95 HAM

(unexperimented padding segments 1% base 7/8/7 HAM)
56% kinetic
20% base
142/67/100 HAM

So, as you can see, there is a difference, but minimal. Only thing I can think of is that the 1% base is a high 1% (ie 1.5+) and the 4% base is a low 4, which would explain the only 2% gain over base. I dont know...looks like its working to me.

AtPlay,

What type of resources were you using? Quality-wise I mean. High OQ and SR?

I just wanted to know if it was worth using high quality resources when possibly low to mid quality resources will give close to the same resists. If you used low quality resources and still got 1% base and decent ham and get only a 2% difference in the base resists does it make sense to buy segs from tailors for the higher prices some are asking for?

P.S. I in no way want to take away money making opportunities from tailors. I would like to give them more by making the quality resources used for schematics, etc... more important and allow them to price accordingly.

Yeah, thats basically what I was saying. Its a whatyousee kinda thing as in if you use crap resources, youll end up with about 2-3% less base (does anyone really buy this armor for the base?) and about 20 more HAM. Since I can make my own stuff, I use good materials, might as well since Im not really paying for it (other than my own materials).

Now, I have had a few ask me for a high base set, for more ranged protection. In those cases, then it would be good to use a higher base padded segments (and maybe rancor/janta hides).

Would like to see the same experiments on chest pieces. Maybe the gap would widen a little bit more since they use 2 padding segments instead of 1.
