Thread: 60% kinetic chitin armor
I dunno how bloodfins economy is... but on bria if I was selling chitin I would charge as much as I charge for ubese (280k). Does a suit of ubese cost 50k on bloodfin?
The reason being is the ungodly amounts of hide and bone required to make chitin. It ends up costing an armorsmith just as much to make chitin as it does to make ubese.
Added to that the fact that nobody will pay as much for chitin as for ubese and you have armorsmiths who won't make chitin, who don't even bother collecting the resources needed for it.
And one of the resources specificially for chitin (the biggest stumbling block) is dantooine animal bone. Not very many armor smiths have ever collected decent amounts of high quality dant animal bone (I've looked for high qual stuff off and on, and havn't found any yet). And until you find an armorsmith who has, you won't be able to get 60% kinetic chitin.
If you're looking for low ham, high kinetic armor go with ubese. 450ish hams, and 75ish kinetic protection on most servers.
Check out the "High Kinetic Chitin" thread. We are several armorsmiths that can make 60%+ Kinetic chitin, but I don't know whether any of us are on Bloodfin. The problem vs Ubese is that less other stuff is protected and the base is lower, so you might want to add some vornitor scales or such.

Yes, that's the usual "excuse". 
It's perfectly sensible from an economical standpoint, why waste time and resources on something very few will buy? Me, I'm doing it to have a full spread in case someone actually wants it sometime. Sure, it'll take a bit extra space, but I hope it'll be worth it for the bonus in customer relations to be able to do anything armor-ish. 
i was thinking of getting myself a suit of Chitin armor as well. i have 6 or 7 Chitin armor segments dropped from the Geo cave. i was wondering what does Chitin protect against base and special wise?

Chitin armor has kinetic as special resist and energy, restraint, blast and acid as base resists.

humm ok thanks, now i know i can make a nice suit to crush ppl with energy and acid weapons.... i heard something about special ackley armor that was a modifyed Chitin anyone know if that is true and whats different about it?
