Can someone give me an idea of the approximate base % on the segments that could potentially lead to 70% base, and whether or not this is even possible without enhancers?

Also, right now i have been stopping at 4% base layers, even though i could add more points. Those added points wont get it to 5%, but i am wondering how important that decimal is in the grand scheme of things?

your layers r fine u just need better minerals for the final construction on armor.

TF armor division .*Naboo/Kaadara 5181 5725*-*NEW Coronet Branch -353 -5547*

now making 67% base 80% special low ham composite. 47% stun PSG slice them up to 63%!
RIS certified . 38% stun 65% base composite with 295ham helmet now in stock

you cant get above 4% base on the layers.

make your layers 4% and experment the segs in base as high as they can go

make sure you have high OQ and SR resources. (can be trouble with wooly hides)

last step:

hoppe like hell that it all comes out fine in the wash.

Actually, the layers turn 5% at 100% experimentation. It is alot easier to up the base in other places though, like getting very good resources for the segments and the final assembly.

Currently getting 69% base if I forget about hamcosts. This is with the onedaypatch 5% base layers, very good resources in all steps except for my kiirium steel which plain sucks. So, yes, 70% base should be doable, even without 5% layers.

Yeah Bloodfin has 71% Base for non-patch day. And it was 74% on patch day.

Yep that decimal makes a difference alright, on my energy composite I can get 72% base using my 4.x% layers

this is using some of the best stuff on the server though... (only got 10 points to play with)

You do not need enhancements to hit 70% base. You don't have to hit 100% experimentation either. As someone stated there are decimals at work so your 4% could actually be 4.33% or 4.87% or 4.whatever percent. I'm able to hit 70% base with kinetic, heat and energy layers maxed out on base experimentation. On most others I max out at 69%.

Note: You cannot hit very high base percentages unless you max out base on layers. You cannot make up for it later in experimentation. You can keep the numbers in line with the original base but unless you're using 4% layers and at least 34% segments you don't have a prayer of reaching 70% base.

The problem with the chest is that the resource % are different, gloves have the same problem but in a way that tends to favor a higher result.

Resource amount needed % of total
Chest Intru. Ore 100 27%
Aluminum 60 16.2%
Known Solid 100 27%
Beyrillus 50 13.5%
Naboo fiber 50 13.5%
Wooly hide 40 10.8%
Total 370

2 seg items Intru. Ore 50 25.6%
Aluminum 30 15.4%
Known Solid 50 25.6%
Beyrillus 20 10.3%
Naboo Fiber 25 12.8%
Wooly Hide 20 10.3%
Total 195

3 seg items Intru.Ore 70 25.5%
Aluminum 40 14.5%
Known Solid 70 25.5%
Beyrillus 30 10.9%
Naboo Fiber 35 12.7%
Wooly hide 30 10.9%
Total 275

Gloves Intru. Ore 25 26.3%
Aluminum 10 10.5%
Known Solid 25 26.3%
Beyrillus 10 10.5%
Naboo Fiber 15 15.9%
Wooly Hide 10 10.5%
Total 95

The 2 and 3 seg items have almost identical % with just a slightly different stress in aluminum. This is why your boots and arms are normally like your helmets/pants. However the gloves and chest have very different stresses, with gloves using a lot less aluminum and more naboo fiber and chest plate stressing beyrillus and the ore/solid more. For me personally as an armorsmith on Kettemore the beyrillus stress on the chest plate is what is causing my chest plates to occasionally have that 1% difference. Highest quality beyrillus I've seen is about 600 in oq and shock. On avg the rest of my resources are probabl 800-900 avg range for composite armor. Because of this the additional stress on the beyrillus is introducing a .3% or so difference on the final result for chest plates, when a suit is border line this is generally enough to cause the chest plate to be 1% less. I would guess the majority of the people out there are seeing similar problems. Though technically if you had lower quality resources in another area but high quality beyrillus you could see the reverse effect, in which case the chest plates would be 1% higher on avg. Anyways knowing those % can help you tweak your armor a little, technically if you had similar resources but favoring one or another a bit more (for example you have 2 types of aluminum and one has 50 pts more SR) then you could plan accordingly and use the lower quality aluminum in your gloves (where it would have less impact) to get similar results. Course I doubt there are many cases where you'd be in a position to do this rather then just using your best resources to craft everything.

i dunno if this actually help but its says is should so here goes:

some player citys have specilisations. the ones we like are called research centers. they are supposed to give a 15% bonus to all expermentation rolls.

i have my doubts if it works but its worth a shot.

Oi-yun you will need around 34/35% base segments to reach that. Maybe 33% depending on the hidden decimal that we never see, and the resource qualitys you use. Patch day (24 hour introduction of the proposed exp changes) allowed armorsmiths to gather a nice supply of 5% layers or all sorts (again depending on what you were using that dayfor resources). Some of the AS's on kauri, including myself, did just about every layer and its matching segment that turned out to be 5% layers and around 35/36 % segments. It had a little higher ham but was manageable that day to get killer layers/seg's before they reverted the old system back to its current version.Otherwise its nearly impossible on kauri at least, to get 5% layers and that high %'age of a segment with the current system. Sad as it is, but im actually glad they did keep the oldsystem in. Just my opinion.

Hope this answers your question.

i do 35% segments with 4% blast layers to hit 70% base... But what is it with the chests? everyother part 70% base apart from the chest that stays at 69%

OK, I want to make some 70% base comp armor. Reading the forum it looks like it can be done, but I can not seem to hit it.

I use my best resources and make 35% base segments, and then some pretty darn good for the final and only make 68% base, does anyone know what the weighted average of OQ+SR on the final I need to get the 35% from the final combine???

PS on to this message - what base do I need to make a 90% slice possible?

67% Base makes 90% Base post-slice possible but highly unlikely. Ever % higher your base is pre-slice makes you significantly more likely to hit 90% Base.

You need your OQ+SR to be ~870 to add the 35% Base in the final combine.
