ok guys. i have finished making comp for my guildies. i have recently bought a home near coronet (that was tough) and now i am considering my next move.

Currently i am master armoursmith, archetect and artisan.

i picked up novice merchant for the extra vendor. so i will have 2 vendors 1 armour and 1 for eveything else.

i live on chilstra galexy and i sell armour for about 200k -250k a set. (this is triple advanced layered kentic composite)

i have a heap of questions:

  1. is that a good price for armour?

  2. how much more should i charge for scliced armour (enumbrance seems to be worth more than resistance)?

  3. can u sell people armour in bag on vendor or is it seprate pices?

  4. do you do special orders?

  5. do you sell components? ( ie layers or segs)

  6. how many armoursmiths have merchant?

  7. should i progress up the merchant tree?

  8. should i go about spamming?

  9. any inventive ideas on decorating?

  10. any other tips or tricks?

i would be very greatfull if you could share you knowledge with me.

cheers

one thing that is bothering me is i am getting sales but people keep buying parts of suits.

so at the end of the day i end up with an arm ther a body here and a pair of boots hanging about.

i dunno if its wise but i may have to at this rate sell armour in bags.

Well that is good price, most armor is priced higher where im from.

people will buy pcs... just keep throwing more items up there. who cares if you end up with a couple odd pcs... theyll sell eventually. If its bugging you price the main pcs higher and the arm pcs relatively cheap. Might want to sell both pcs and full sets.

i sell all my full suits in travel bags labeled.....this works for me great and while i am not certain, i would like to take some credit for doing this with armor way back in the day on the bloodfin server...i thought it was a good idea i had and within soon afterwards and up till now its become the norm. i hate selling just pieces for the same reason u had, i do sell some like stun helms and already sliced uber chest plates but aside from these no pieces. so whatever works for you i guess.

I have planet map advertising from merchant, thats it. Only have one shop so don't need more venders. Gives me notice, I don't really care about putting clothes or stuff on my vender model so don't have any other parts.

I have my pieces priced higher than my full suits in a bag. I call it my full suit discount. It's actually so I'll sell more suits as a whole rather than scattered pieces that I need to keep track of what's selling so I have to make more of thus and so piece. I try to keep at least 2 of every piece on the vendor, but keep more in the way of suits and use the pieces for those odd ends of segments *chuckle*. I also price pieces based on the number of segments or relative resources. A lot of people don't look for bags, so I do get a full suit purchased as pieces at the higher rate (my original prices which were discounted for suits and then dropped again only on full suits when I got a reliable source of lower cost hides). I keep meaning to put an "advert" on pieces mentioning the full suits in the wearable containers section, but putting stuff on the vendor is too frequently the very last thing I do before collapsing to sleep.

Put your armor in Packs. I label mine like so: [69% Eff,80% Kinetic] Blue Comp Suit(unsliced[H/A/M]). People on my server love it. I also put extra helms and chestplates on my vendors for people who break theirs. Easiest way to do it is make a Pack Schematic with the label already made...If you make 10 Suits at a time, make 10 Packs...Uncrate Pack, Uncrate Armor, Drag Armor in Pack, load packon vendor. It takes WAY less time than loading piece by piece due to vendor lag. I can drag 5 suits into packs in a matter of seconds =P

Man i have no trouble being noticed...I run through Theed or Coronetonce yelling thatI have armor and it starts a chain reaction Stuff just starts selling and selling and selling and once a few peeps start recommending you, you're doomed to slavery to the masses forever... which is kind of the point

I started when my server had a lack of AS...we had like 9 on the server, and I was 1 of maybe3 who were really active on the forums and actually making large quantities of armor. Right now I make 40 suits per run with comp, and 50 per on Ubese...I'm working on a 500 Suit Sale for this weekend(Prolly the largest i'll ever do). I also pre-sliced most of my armor...So people loved getting the exact effect they wanted ALREADY sliced and in a pack so they got all pieces.

I'll post this here as well even though I just posted it in another thread.

When I get the question 'Do you make composite?", I usually send out email with a link to this forum along with information about the kinds of composite I make. Heavy "I don't give a rat's *** about HAM" armor, Strong Light, Standard Adv and Standard Non Adv. I include my vendor waypoint along with what is currently stocked on the vendor as well as the current cost for custom orders.

I also have similiar FAQ emails for PSG's, ubese armor and armor repair. Saves my fingers and hours or typing out the same stuff. It will preserve your sanity

I sell my triple kinetic layered comp for about 170k a suit. Right now it's 71% kin 55% base. I put them in bags with a colored title so they stand out on the vendor. Pieces I sell at slightly higher prices to encourage people to buy full suits.

What I have started doing recently is making prototypes of the pieces until I get a nice 4 socketed one. Then I make the schematic from that. So I have some singles to put on the vendor and a nice run to go with it.

Sliced armor, when I stock it, is sold with the cost of slicing and a surcharge added onto it. I will probably put up a second vendor for sliced stuff in the future sometime, to keep it organized.

Special orders are fine, I'm happy to fill them if I have the resources.

I don't sell components, but I've traded segements to a DE/MArt for PSG components.

Merchant.... take it or leave it, I picked it up because armor is really all I do and I wanted my vendors to wear my armor. (I dunno how they can put it on unbuffed, but they do!)

Word of mouth is your best advertisment. I don't spam (well, very rarely, maybe when I'm waiting on shuttles) and I've sold a good amount of suits.

Welcome to smithing!
