With high quality resources I can make padded armor with 74-76% kinetic and 46-48% base resist (vulnerable to stun, heat and acid). And that's without any enhancements.

The question is what do you mean by best? If its high kinetic and base then the previous posted stated the average stats of it like that.

Now if you mean what is the best and still useful..thats a whole other story.

Normal non-layered I get about 40%base and around 350/450/200 ham, without the ugly helm.

This is the best padded I've seen.

If you meant normal nonlootdrop padded: I don't do alot of padded, but lately I've seen an increase in the number of requests, so I've been makeing padded with 70% kinetic and 40's base useing no lootdrops. This is also the best nonenhanced padded I've seen, since I very seldom see any padded for sale anywhere. When I do see padded for sale it usually got very low resists with good encumbrance, for the "just for looks" customers out there.

The main reason you won't see padded all the time is the specific resources required to make the armor and the amount of organics used, weighted up to the resists it can provide.

yeah they're segments. And after seeing that I know why this armor isn't popular. I'd suck in pvp lol. My alt does more pve anyways, and I just want to be different. It'd be great if mine turned out as good as that screenshot. Thanks for responding to my post

I just became an armorsmith and I'm looking at crafting a set or two for my alt. i have some really decent rancor hides that will add 20% to the base, and 20-30% for heat and cold. I was just wondering what kind of stats is typical from a set of padded armor. Please let me know. Thanks.

Yeah that Padded shot is awesome. Must have used some real nice rancor segs. I also made myself some nice useful kinetic padded with rancor hides not segments. I got some pieces up to 80% kinetic / 40 something base but the resources were real nice. Of course the suit was heavy as heck so I actually had to make 2 to get a fully encumbrance sliced suit. I can wear it unbuffed- barely. Kind of sad that a ubese suit would be almost as effective and about 60% of the HAM cost.

What resources are needed to make padded armour?

Can anyone guess whatlevel of quality/loot I would need to collect to get some padded with 70% kinetic and energy protection, and reasonable HAM; 400 or under (is this possible?)

getting both energy and kinetic to 70% would be pretty damn hard, but could be possible. My lokian leathery is horrendous, but I can hit 72% kin and 44% base. That's with just plain 12% kin layers that I had lying around. If the hide were to come in very good, I suppose 65/65 energy/kinetic would be possible, but 70/70 would be asking for a lot.

the stuff above is 80 80

would you need loot enhancements to get this high?

I have lokian leather now that is 950OQ 450SR, would this be any good or do I need better

Any other organics needed for padded armour?

How much lokian leather is needed for a full suit

That hide is better than what I have, but I still think it would be short.I doubt that without loot enhancements that you could hit that high. Find some 20% rancor segments or an advanced segment with huge energy/kinetic layer with a segment enhancer and you might reach it. I'd still have reservations using my best duralloy and wooly hide on making padded.

Thanks for info Leelak

Few more questions

Do I need rancor hides or rancor segments?

Would voritor lizard segments be useful because they boost both kinetic and energy (I think these can only be used in bone armour but I'm not sure)

What type of wooly hide does padded use?

You need yavinian wooly if you are going for crafted segments. Then some other hidetypes (scaley hide, wooly hide + lokian leathery) in the final combine. The full recipe can be found on for instance www.swgcraft.com. If you get voritor scales (not segments) then you may put them in the crafted segment and help get better energy/kinetic resists at the cost of about 5 encumbrance per piece.

In the 80/80 padded I made above, I used 60% base looted rancor segments. You won't need 60% base segments to get 80% base armor though, on this armor I had like 4 points remaining after maxing base. The screenshots of theese segments can be found if you go to the link for the armor, then choose view more item by this user, or similar. Still got 1 segment left, so might consider makeing some boots or similar with it. (boots/bracers/biceps and gloves, only need 1 segment each for padded)

I believe makeing an armor without looted items and still get 70% in both energy and kinetic while keeping the encumbrance down is going to be hard, but probably doable to some extent.
