Thread: Broken cap?

Now, please correct me if I'm wrong here but I was under the impression that the cap for unlayered recon armor was 5000/7000/6000 correct? Okay then.

So when using energy layers in recon armor, isn't the cap 8000 energy?

The reason I ask is that I just made a piece of Ubese armor with:

3996 Kinetic.

8004 Energy. !

6000 Elemental.

The hinderances are all capped out at 20/40/60.

Did I just beat the system? lol.

It's a very nice piece though. Might have to keep it just for show

Adding it all together it doesn't make much sense either. The layers "only" add 996 energy, not 1004 like they would have to be to reach 8004 energy.

This had me wondering if the cap on layered recon was actually 8200, based on perfect +100 layers*12 for advanced armor. Although then the armor should actually have been better, since 1309*3 = 3927 for the segments, and then 7732 in the core. It seems odd that the resists changed from 27 to 32 in the core. That usually doesn't happen in my experience. They are usually the same, segment to core.

That would mean that if the Cap WAS 8200 energy, that I should have a piece with 8132 energy. But since I don't, and the hinderances are capped...

Thoughts?

I regularly hit 8092 on Recon, and 8130 kinetic on Assault if that helps.. I thought the cap was 8200.

Cap is 8200.

100 per layer x 12 layers.

The only logical reason for this would be hidden decimals.

Instead of 83, maybeyour layers were 83.7 or something making it1004...

But this still doesn't explaing how the +5 got in the cores.

Or why I'm only getting 272 from Core > Final Piece, instead of 400...

Or why my hinderances are capped if they're not supposed to cap untill 8200. Unless of course they cap seperately as soon as the resists go 7000+

I'm not big on layers. I have hardly used them at all. I was just running some tests for a customer when this strange thing happened.

Hindrances are based on the base and cap at the 6k mark. Layering doesnt do anything to raise or lower the hindrance.

As forgetting getting 272 from Core > Final Piece, its proportional to what your getting from your base to final. Remember the layers add only on top of your base so if your going from 5800> 6000 on that your layers will onlygo up based on that 200.

Err, that made very little sense. Could you elaborate it?

What he means is:

The cap on base is 6000.

The +400 bonus you get on final pieces can't go over that cap.

Therefore, if your core is 5800 you will only get a +200 bonus.

Another way of putting it is that you will only get the full +400 bonus if your cores are 5600 base or less.

There are a few implications of this, 1) you don't need uber resources to hit the cap, 2) if you do have uber resources, stop experimenting your cores at 5600 and put the rest of your points into condition (which can get a little tricky if your cores are layered because base isn't displayed anywhere).

Well that's just dumb... so my cores are simply too good?... yay.

Well, thanks for clearing everything up.
