Alright so a day or so ago I decided to create a new char, naturally since my primary character is a warrior I wanted to build some sort of crafter. That is why armorsmith came to mind. With the help of good macros and a lot of good guides on this board I sailed through artisan in just a few short hours (thanks to dbl xp) and I’ve been spending the past two nights grinding away at armorsmith.
Now when I started this character I was lucky enough to get the free barc speeder which I sold for a cool four million credits. So thus far I’ve just been able to go out and buy all the resources I need to grind out the parts. However in total I’ve spent nearly 2mil just in buying low grade bulk resources to grind with, which has me sort of pissed because grinding this profession is costing quite a lot of credits, not to mention the fact that it is very tedious and slow going.
In the past two nights I’ve managed to grind my way to 4xx2 using a macro to create armor segments, and then once my inventory is full I use another macro to create practice cores. Now this in it self is very time consuming and very costly and what I’m wondering is if there is a better way? Is there something I can make that will give me near the amount of xp that basic cores are giving me, but without having to make extra components for the piece and using up a ton of resources? Because when I’m making all these segments, even though I’m gaining a minimal amount of xp it makes me feel like I am losing time because the real xp is in the cores I grind out. Basically what I need to know is if there is something I can make that won’t break the bank and will be just as or more efficient than doing cores.
Also I made an attempt to make some standard cores and for some reason I get less xp for them than I do with the basic cores, which doesn’t seem right to me seeing as they take more resources and more segments than the basic ones.
Also, is there a better way to figure out which freaking slot a schematic is in! Every time I train I have to go and change all my macros time and time again which can take as long as 15min to sit there and go through all the schematics using a simple /ui action toolbarSlotxx; /sel xx; macro, going through all the numbers until I find what it is I’m looking for. To me it just seems retarded that schematics are constantly getting shifted around and there appears to be no place where you can just click on it to find which slot it occupies.
Anyhow thanks in advance for any help..

Since the removal of AUKs, the grind has become VERY tedious.
Segments or layers in a continous practice grind is probably the fastest way.

Ya it must suck to start now on AS i was happy i started a couple days before. Took about maybe 48hours play time to master it from novice.. I think survey 4 in artisan took longer lol

I'm currently grinding with my alt to become armoursmith.
To get going at a decent rate I have started a factory run of really low quality seg's and cores which I'm then gonna use to make Mabari shirts.
Means I get three days to grind with my main whileI wait for the factory runs to finish then grind with my alt, rinse and repeat.
maybe not the fastest way to go about it but it gives me time to grind my Padewan up a bit and means less actual crafting for the armoursmith grind.

Don't make mabari chests. they cost 7 cores, oposed to the normal 3.
You'd be better off doing something like mabari helmets or legs with those. You don't get xp for the 7 cores worth.

Cheers for the tip I'll switch to legs when my next factory run ends

I grinded armorsmith once with AUK's and Ubese shirts. Im doing it with Factory ran segments and then Standard Assault cores this time on my new alt. Not counting what it costs to make the segments, which is fairly little if you shop around. Standard Cores take 190 Resources netting 472xp(dbl xp week). Basic Cores use 115 resources netting 294 xp. You get a very small difference when you do the Standard cores vs the Basic Cores, something like 2.55 xp per resource with basic and 2.45 xp per resource with standard cores.
I spent 1 million for every resource needed to grind from novice to master. You spent entirely too much or bought entirely too good of resources for grinding. Use the galatic vendor search. Takes time, but saves money. Anyone pondering this grind, START IT BEFORE DOUBLE XP IS OVER!
All numbers are of course takin in account double xp

This is something I've raised on the Corr forum recently. Hopefully we'll get some good news.

I've grinded since the CU and yeah, there's nothing until 3xxx, but grinding ubese shirts till master can be done with less than 100k steel, iron and fiberplast...definately the easiest way on the pocket book. (And simple too).
