Thread: Armorsmithing requires more than just Master Artisan???

I was just starting as a Armorsmith when the CU happened.

Now making armor is more difficult than before...

Just to make Bone Armor (which USED to be a low level armor), one has to be a Master Artisan, AND haveTailor - Field Wear II, just to make the COMPONETS needed to make armor.

Let's see, I need to make an Armor Segment first,

Then using the Armor Segment, make a Armor Core...

Now, to make a piece of armor, I need an Armor Core,Fiberplast Panels, and - wha??? Reinforced Fiberplast Panels?

So, to make Reinforced Fiberplast Panels -I have to be a Tailor AND grind 76,800 TAILOR xp before I can make armor?????

What's wrong with this picture?

Welcome to interdependence. Common complaint, but a fact of life for almost all crafting professions.

The only thing you absolutely have to have in order to be a successful armorsmith is Master Armorsmith. You don't need to be a Master Artisan, you don't need to be a Tailor, you don't need to be a Merchant, and you don't need to be a Scout.

However, you do need to use products created by Master Artisans and Tailors if you wish to make all armor products. You will need to somehow use a merchant to sell your wares to the market, and you will need to make use of many different creature resources. How you go about getting access to these things is up to you. You can purchase components directly from other suppliers, you can purchase a schematic made with your resources so that you can run them at your leisure, or you can just make them yourself.

True, most armorsmiths end up making their own components simply because it is easier. An important economic / business lesson is that firms will vertically integrate whenever it maximizes overall supply efficiency. That's what happens here.

nope... thats the way economy goes... you dont need to grind all those profession first before going to craft armors...

spent some of your credits to your local tailor to get some crates of fiberplast panels, reinforced fiberplast panels, synthetic clothes and if you want to craft wookie armor ... armor paddings too....

if you got the resources and the tailor is so nice to sell or give you a schematic for those components...well then you just have to place a wearable factory and put the schematic and resources in and wait some hours till you got the components you need.

Personally, my template relies on myself and self alone for components

-nuna- is Master AS, Master Merchant, Smuggler 4000 (for buying faction schematics)

hunkahunka (my newest alt given to me by an old friend that left game) is master artisan, master droid engineer (still trying to figure this prof out ) Master Merchant, Tailor 0300, Architect 4010

The-waco kid, currently master pistols/carbines/scout 0040, but I've been considering recently dropping carbines in favor of master ranger to hunt hides and whatnot for my armor.

When I realise I'm running low on components like I did the other day, I ran off 4k of each component;Synth cloth, reinforced fiber panels, fiber panels, and armor padding. Once done threw them into my storage vendor for safe keeping and later use. Personally I'd rather do the job myself, then have to find someone thats reliable and fast in their work. Its not just simple economics either, its just simpilar period.

Goodbye to all my friends and allies and enemies, may we meet on greener pastures somewhere else where the players dont get F'd over for spending the last 2 years of their lives playing a worthless POS of a game!

Robert' is:

Master Armorsmith, Master Artisan, 0-3-0-0 Tailor, and 0-4-4-3 Merchant.

Danatal is MBH, Master Pistoleer, Scout 4-0-3-4 (I think), and Master Marksman. (My harvest character).

I have other alts that don't matter too (5 paid accounts in all).

I try to be self-sufficent, just because people are flaky at best, and I'd rather not rely on anyone but myself.

I dropped tailor a few days after the CU went live... I havent really missed it. Factory crates of the essential tailor components are cheap and plentifull

Capt_Obvious,

could you tell me how Smuggler 4000 helps with Faction Schematics. When I read that I figured it must help with the price but I am not sure.

Thanks

I never bothered trying to do everything because that would be really lonely (=.

I have a master tailor who delivers 1000 synth cloth, 1000 RFP, and 1000FP to me within 48 hours of my e-mail. Costs me a measily 350k (he was charging less but I pay more for quick delivery.)

He also crafts all my hawtpants so it is a great deal.

I am a MAS, master smuggler, and merchant 0/0/0/4.
