Thread: Crafter Protection Help

I am a Master of 3 crafting professions so my Combat Rating is 1. I havent kept up with the changes in Armor since the CU started so i need some advice. I'm tired of getting ambushed by critters while out checking harvesters and getting incapped with one or two hits. Even the lowly crittersare hittingfor 500+ damage per hit and if you get attacked by anything over level 15 they are hitting for 1200+ which is usually a 1 hit incap. Right now I dont use any armor so thats probably why I'm taking so much damage and need something stronger than plain threads.

So....what I want to know is...is it possible to wear armor for protection purposes only. I dont care about hinderances since I dont plan on fighting back. I just need enough protection so I can absorb 3 or 4 hits which is usually enough time for me to get out of range. If this is possible, what armor would be best used?

Also...are there any pitfalls in this idea or would there be a better way of doing what I want to do. I dont care anything about hunting or combat so my entire focus is on just gaining enough protection to escape rather than remaining in combat. Thanks in advance for anyone that answers.

Unless you are Novice (or better) in an Elite Combat Profession you cannot wear any armor, to get to that point would cost you one of your crafting Masteries.

Looking past the armor there are a few other things you can do to ensure your survival.

1. Group up with players who are higher than CL54. This automatically raises your level to theirs andaffects the damage you give and receive when things attack you. If your grouped combat level is high enough, things much lower level will leave you alone entirely. The reason you take SO much damage is because your CL 1 is so far below everything else, not because you don't wear armor. Group up.

2. Get a CL30 Combat Droid - Provides enough relief from things its level or less that you can escape.

3. Pick up Medic (even Novice) - Heals and burst run will save you repeatedly.

4. Makealiases, hotkeys, or a macro function for all your routine harvester maintenance tasks to simplify time spent near harvesters.

5. Buy a PSG.

You can also try the camo kit that range makes. Its available to all now. Not sure how well it works, but its another option.
