i like not knowing what i can and can't beat. Makes me brazen enough to try fighting everything a few times, and by doing thisI get drastically different outcomes. There is no guaranteed threshold that will kill me, one fight with a nightsister elder, i'll demolish it, next fight, something will be up with her weapon or powers.. and im re -famililarising myself with the interior decor of a cloning facility.
I can't possibly see levels fitting into a game with so many dynamics. About 1/2 of the professions dont even get combat levels, but we have to spend skillpoints to get it. Levels only work in situations whre you pick up a combat at level 1 and are stuck with it til the cap, and all talents, crafts, etc are peripheral. In thisCU there is no reason to be anything but combat, becaue its a penalty. Currently i can have a crafter/combat, or entertainer/combat and be just as good as anyone else. In the CU, im being told that i shouldnt be as good, and in fact i wont be.

After reading and testing for a few days, I see this CU as a total disaster. I sure hope I get to ask a question to the devs at the Celebration 3 SWG breakfast cause Im gonna ask "why are you turning this player based crafter economy into a WoW clone ?"
The great thing about SWG was being able to improve oneself. I always had something to do. If I wasnt out looking for gorax bones, I was hunting for NS Shards or skill tapes. Anything to make myself better than the other 50k master swordsman out there like me.
With a level based system, things like better gear and stratgey are useless for the most part. Why would a armorsmith strive to make his armor improve from 43% to 45% ? Why would I as a combat type bother to seek out such armor and buy it knowing that it wont help me ? With a level system, a red mob 5 levels above me will always win. Its designed that way. No amount of superior food, gear, weapons, or strategy will change that.
In essence, this CU will make me want to leave. My main has done everything there is to do in this game a hundred times over. All I had left was chat and loot to keep me playing. And my alt is a droid engineer, no point there (not there was anyway) since my probot droid still wont help you overcome a enemy.
