I feel like such a noob asking this, but oh well, a little bit of humility never hurt anyone...
I see 40K+ condtion composite on other servers. My current stuff is around 36K. That's a pretty significant difference. I don't think it's our resources, since we're capable of making 71% base composite along with just about everything else we discuss here.
I'm thinking it's my experimentation procedure. Here's what I do for kinetic layered composite:
Layers - 8 point amazing on base, 4 point great/amazing on encumbrance (4b/4k w/ 10/10/10 HAM)
Segments - 8 point amazing on base, 1 point amazing on special,3 point amazing/greast on encumbrance (35b/14k/10e)
Final - 8 point amazing on base, 4 point amazing on encumbrance (71b/80e/80k)
The final product is nice - my unsliced kinetic layered helms can come out to 71% base with mind encumbrance around 275. I just don't see where the extra 4K of condition is coming from.
Any help?

Easy -- Composite experimentation is all messed up.
Experimentation on encumberance for composite does not affect the overall condition. Experiment on the bottom line (aka special protection) and you increase the condition for composite.

Ah, I thought that might be it. Frankly, I'd rather keep the lower encumbrance than get an extra 10% on condition. Thanks for the info though.

Depends on the target market. PvP armor, go with the lower encumberance. PvE armor (particularly high-base NS hunter armor for slicing to 90%), you'd be better off with higher condition.

People, please remember to take into account uber componates dropped by difficalt to kill NPC's like Krayt Dragon's, Night Sister Queens, and what not.
How often do you come by a Red Geno cube, or a NightSister Armor Seg with double digit negitives to the Encum cost, or even the Night Sister Vibro Blade unit?
Can you make componates that compair to them or evenm exceed them?

Maybe on the chest plate and boots, but everything else I'd stick with lower encumbrance. Nightsister hunting has always been a hobby of mine, and as a TKM / master pistoleer / rogue I never needed more than encumbrance sliced 80% kinetic comp. The chest plates and boots wear out pretty quickly, but everything else lasts a good long while.

One of my alts is a Nightsister loot whore swordsman stacker. It's not uncommon for me to solo dozens of Elders in a night, as well as associated Protectors, Spell Weavers, Sentinels, Stalkers, and other high-end NS that I somehow aggro. Wearing a four-piece minisuit, I will reliably lose 3K+condition on the chestplate, boots, and gloves in a three hour buff session. The helmet takes far less damage.
The additional encumberance I get on the four pieces by applying my 3-4 remaining experimentation points to condition on the final assembly is essentially negligible ... maybe 50/50/50 extra. But the extra 3-4K condition, pushing it up to 40K, means that you get an extra buff session out of the armor before you need to repair it. When you're dealing with high-end effectiveness sliced armor, the extra guaranteed usage is more valuable than a little less encumberance.
Encumberance-sliced Kinetic Composite was great when they were all unarmed and had no force powers ... I could pretty easily tank 5-6 NS at once that way. Now, having 85%+ kinetic and blast resistance is a necessity if I want to live when I get sologanked by a power hammer-carrying Elder and her LVA-toting protectors. And I do. And so do the other serious solo NS hunters I help outfit.

If you're a swordsman, sure. Swordsman aren't really great for defense (I was one for a long time). My current combat build puts me on the melee defense cap, and with unarmed toughness and defensive acuity rolls I do fine in 80% kinetic comp. I've taken down multiple protectors with some spell weavers mixed in at the same time. Tanking elders for swordsmen and riflemen works fine too.

I do the opposite. I can save a few points encumberance off small pieces or 20+ points encumberance off of the large pieces. Plus, people buy less small pieces because they wear out less so why not make them last even longer and stock less of them. Also, people like to use the small pieces like bracers, gloves, biceps to store AAs in so the higher condition the better.
I would rather have people come to my shop to replace a chest, pants or helmet than to replace bracers. Plus, if they are replacing one or two large pieces sometimes they will just grab a whole new suit.
so, IMHO it is a more efficient use of experimentation points to lower the encumberance of large pieces.
