Thread: Question on stats
Hi All,
I have a question on starting out with the proper stats. I am going to play as a human or a wookie. Most likely a wookie because I just like them.
I was thinking of going for a Bounty Hunter but I am wondering if it is better to start out with the scout or marksman stats? I may only take BH for one of its weapon trees and take some skills from the carbiner or pistoleer weapons trees( haven't decided on which one yet. )
I have my mind a bit higher than my health, and action is a bit below health. I dont have any of them DRASTICALLY high than the other. Yes we use A LOT of mind with our specials, but health and action seem to be the target of choice when a MOB is chompin at your ass...so I keep them pretty high as well.
You Focus and Willpower should be significantly higher than your other subtraits. These should make you mindpool regen faster, as well as make your specials use less of your mindpool.
I havent experimanted with many different settings...just a bit. And I found this one to be pretty good. Others opinions might help too though.
My suggestion:
Keep your main pools fairly low. Health, Action and Mind.
Take the stats you save by doing this and dump it into your secondary pools, especially Willpower and Focus, but also Constitution and Stamina.
Having a huge mind pool isn't nearly as useful as having a huge Willpower and Focus.
My one regret as a human is that I can only have 600 focus and willpower. I really wish I could have more, especially more willpower. Willpower effects your mind pool regen speed, so having 900 mind and 400 willpower is not as good as 400 mind and 900 willpower, if you ask me.
You want SOME mind, action and health pools just because that's your buffer in battle, but it's your Focus that lets you keep shooting and your Willpower that helps you survive being hit by a Mind Shot. As a rifleman/swordsman, I end up hitting all 3 of my main pools, so I have 700 health, 600 action and 800 mind, but maxed out focus, willpower, quickness, stamina and constitution, and nearly max strength.
I suffer from having smaller pools, but I can fight for longer and if I can duck out of a fight for half a minute, I can regenerate a lot of damage quickly.
...
Kinda like in Everquest. Having a huge mana pool with slow regeneration was vastly inferior to having a small mana pool but with fast regeneration. How much Mind you have to start with isn't as important as how much you can regenerate per minute.
