I understand everyone's complaints about resource and skilltape loss, that's arediculous amount of time and money to lose, but i think for thegame this is all for the best.

When you shop for armor what do you look for... honestly? Comp, comp, comp, comp, comp and some more comp. oh and maybe a set ubese for a beat-up grinding set. i mean don't any of you bored with making ONE type of armor. i think it's retarded seeing a thousand suits of comp at every space port. it's to the point where they should change the name from armorsmith to compsmith. it's not your fault, but there it is.

i think perhaps the goal was to force smiths to create different types, be creative with the KIND of armor created not just the stats. well i shouldn't say"force",many of you would do this anyway ifit was an option...well now it is. and with increased resource requirements you will prob see most smiths focus on a few different sets instead of every armor available. the measure of an armorsmith will be the selection available not how high their comp stats are. i don't see many armorsmiths create great armor, i see AS's that create great comp. now everyone can branch of with different styles and a little personal flare, is noone happy about that? at the very least you willbecome individuals now.

you talk about experimentation being nerfed butonly one lineis really focused on right now anyway, condition is an afterthough andham is left to the smugglers so what is the real difference?

combat had to change, it's boring as hell right now: spam/macro a set of attacks and sit there, most people that left swg did so because of this. and if combat changes armor HAS to change with it.

it doesn't seem like you got nerfed, just altered. you've lost some experimentation and gained variety, just roll with it

I'm all for new armor types and honestly dont mine needing to gather more resources, it will give me something to do. Having 12 points was most noticable with stun since you could easily get from the ground up 5% more base then 10 points by the time you hit your final combine. Kinetic comp you could be looking at a few hundred points less HAM cost on the high side. RIS seems almost pointless without 12. The problem with the system in test is there is 0 margin for anything being different unless you use drasticly different resources, and condition will matter once you see how fast this stuff wears out.

I like the new skin useage, it will be nice. I still think it needs to change a little though but only time will tell.

Just because you and seemingly quite a few other smiths only experiment on one line doesn't mean everyone does. If that was the case I would have changed professions a long time ago out of boredom. Ok, so most smiths won't care about a new single line and will continue to pump out top selling armor without even thinking about the experimentation, but me and the others complaining here found our fun in the challenge of balancing multiple lines of experimentation.

It isn't a large collection of resources that was fun. It's painful, but go ahead and change the resources and even the stats if it'll help make the overall game better.

It isn't having a 12-point suit that is fun.

What was fun, for me at least, was the challenge of making great armors that few other smiths could make. Sure, part of that came from old resources, but a major part came from using new resources that 99% of the other smiths didn't even look at and then doing some challenging combinations in the experiments.

Surely that doesn't have to go away to make the overall game better!

I understand ox, i'm just wondering how loot will affect the new system. by the sounds of it we will have more varieties of loot and stacked quatities. i'm hoping that enhanced experimentation with addons will be a replacement for the exp line that will be lost. if it is then great, we still get to tinker just in a new way.

so hopefully ox the challenge will still be there for you. i just think we should all be patient and see how this pans out, it's still in beta after all.

Actually, one my flavors of composite was a Low-HAM Composite, I put 8 points into HAM reduction and 4 into base resists.
Made 80% kinetic composite with ham equal almost to unlayered composite.

If you had a choice of weapons, which one would you pick (lets say you're a Rifleman) a 700 Max damage T21 or a 250 Max damage DLT20a ?
We were in the same predicament.

Broken Swoop Engines, Hutt Transmission 1 of X, and more of that kind of stuff no doubt.

All kidding aside, I'm like Ox....I don't just experiment 1 line on my armor. Sure, I will make some standard runs but I have found that some of my other suits (low base stats but 52K Condition on some or insanely low HAM costs like the suit of comp I have that my AS can actually suit up into without buffs or food and yes, it's sliced but that was only to see if I can get the base raised a bit he still wore it unbuffed/no food prior to it being sliced) sold rather quickly. Ya...30something base 60 something kinetic/electricity but 50K+ Condition makes for some nice grinding armor. You can't get that with 1 line of experiment that I can see. They should leave the experiment the way it is. Some people use multiple lines, some don't. With multiple lines everyone has a choice. With 1 line, you are forcing people to do something and that always meets with negativity and resentment.
