Thread: What do you guys think about this?
Instead of encumberance actually reducing secondary stats, maybe it could sipmly require secondary stats to be greater than or equal to the encumberance. With this system, a armor wearer would have to reduce their Health and Action pools to reinforce their secondaries.
If this makes armor too penalty free, then require the same stats to put it on, but only reduce the secondary pools by half the encumberance.
Too penalty free? I think the penalty should be that you pay for it. I spent 95k on my armor and then another 18k to get it sliced and I still can't wear it.
I purchased the armor because mainly it looks cool, (come on how cool does the composite armor look?) but am now looking for some schmuck to take it off my hands for, hopefully, for the price I paid for it.
Why is this armor even in game? Who can use it? I mean we all have the same stats points to play with right? If all the combat professions want to atain the best armor, and why wouldn't they, isn't everyone going to end up with all thier points in the same stats equaly? So we are all going to end up the same?
The penalty for this armor is already built into the game WITHOUT encumberance... it's the price. And the price is pretty muched fixed by the amount of resources and time it takes to make this armor, it's not like the price is going to drop dramaticly.... ever.
I would almost, ALMOST, agree with encumberance if we got more stat points to play with as our character progressed, but we don't.
After I sell my armor to some unsuspecting pigeon I am even thinking of giving up armor all together and just going with clothes with skill enhansors. At least that way I know what I am getting.
Another possibility is that armor should only reduce your regeneration rates (strength, stamina, focus) by the encumberance amount. This makes sense from a real-life point of view; armor would actually require the use of strength and stamina to wear.
The major improvement this has is not increasing the HAM cost of using special moves compared to an un-armored individual.
I don't see any problems with this as it just makes plain sense.
I actually think that the current Encumberance System makes sense and is probably the best way of handling Encumberances.
That said, I think it is atoo extreme...especially for Layers. People should be able to wear a full suit of armor without slicing/spicing. Those options could still be very useful, since they would add to mitigation and regeneration for your HAM, but they shouldn't be required to wear the armors to begin with.
Consider....many people do not bother slicing their weapons. Weapons can be efective without being sliced. Why is it armors are almost completely useless without slicing/spicing? And even after being sliced, they still wear so heavily on your stats that you have to go minutes at a time without using a special move.
Anyhow...I like the way encumberance works...I just think it is too extreme.
so is armor why do people insist on getting the composit armor before they can afford to realy use it
as a master CM and pistoleer i can aford 150k for a suit of armor 90k for a good set of weapons 30k to get them sliced and the doctor cost to get buffed
get a set of good ubise or chiten armor the composit is for the big boys it's for pvp where you will be hit with every type of dammage and need to have all around protection you don't need it for creature hunting
I make a simple Ubise armor with kin layer that protecs better then composit it still hurts on the ham but thats what slicers are for but with a AC of one and 45% kin reduction just shoot you don't need specials so the uncreased cost on them is mute they are specials not your main attack

After playing alot with temps, I have found that I think this would work best for my play style:
MD
Enh 4003
Heal 4020
LS 0404
Any thoughts? I think it's pretty well rounded for both PvP and PvE.....

I use:
MLS
4040 Defender
4020 Healer
2004 Enhancer
This works very well for me as a good balance.
