Hey all im pretty new to the AS profession, ive been working on some advanced Primus layers and well.. it hasnt been going well
Here is the stats of the the resources ive been using:
Polymer:
OQ 876
SR:755
Fiberflast
OQ: 846
SR: 809
Vintrium Extrusive Ore
OQ: 911
SR: 937
Nutronium Steel
OQ: 986
SR: 719
Perovskitic Aluminum
OQ:913
SR: 63
These are close to the best resources there are on my server, and after crafting the Primus layer i am getting 11/-12 layers... Ive been told they cap at 50/-50 is there somethign im doing wrong? is the low SR on the aluminium really going to affect the results this much?
Look forward to your feedback, im working on producing some top quality BH armor.

It's a display bug that's been around for a while. Go ahead and make a schem and run it through a factory. Layers will turn out find with their full stats.

Thanks a bunch, i was like... Surely they cant be THAT bad with the given mats, was starting to think people who make armor regularly must have 999 all stats

Yes, that could be your culprit. Perovskitic Aluminum has no stat caps so having the SR that low will hinder your final results. Also, your Nutronium Steel's SRhas quality of 42.5% because of the stat range being 685 - 765. Try to get your SR as close to 765 as possible.
To better understand stat caps on resources, there is a link the FAQ that explains it well. Here is the link.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot about the display bug. Your stats are probably higher than 11/-12 but are still limited by those 2 resources I mentioned.

The first time I made layers I thought the same thing. Then I read about what you mentioned and found out that my previously 21/-22 energy layers were really 92/-93 layers. I was a bit relieved.

Thanks, yeah i need to read through that post.. i dont really understand the various caps, thanks for the link and the quick replies. Im going to put it in the factory now ill report back with the results.

i also have some Perovskitic that has stats around 500 for SR and OQ, would it be better to use that?

The original aluminum would be better since SR and OQ are equally weighted. You can just add the two numbers together and go with the resource that has the highest total quality.
And your neutronium is actually very good because of the way stat caps are currently implemented. If it were still calculated the way it used to be, there would be a 80 point range for neutronium's SR. 719 is 34 points higher than 685 so it would be counted as 42.5 percent of the maximum SR for that steel. But they've thrown out the lower resource gates when considering the resoruces quality for crafting. It other words the system compares your 719 to a full range of zero to 765, counting 719 as almost 94 percent of the max SR. Rhat's pretty darn good.

Oh, poo. I did not know that.

does anyone know what the cap actually is? I've been hearing people are getting 80/-81...

Not on primus layers, they aren't. The cap is 50/-51 for primus and 100/-101 for energy and kinetic layers.
