is it a one time thing or each time you use your armor?

when you get a weapon that requires a bio-link, or armor. Basically, it means its yours now, and no-one else can use it except you. Certain armor, like faction, will require faction points to bio link. Hope that helps

o so some armor requires bio linking to let you wear it?

Yes. Clone armor, Factional armor and some new weapons now require bio-linking. Once you bio-link a weapon or armor to yourself, no one else can use it.
