Thread: Old Master Armorsmith back after a year... HELP

Just last week I decided to fire up SWG again and now I can't shut it off. I'm hooked just like when I first opened the box after it was released but its a lot different than I remember. I sort of have the combat thing down but I couldn't craft a paper bag if my life depended on it. Is there anyone out there that has enough time to write a post-CU armorsmith/crafting guide? Maybe there already is one. I have been trying to piece together the concept through other threads but its near impossible. And what is the deal with resources? Some no longer have a max stat of 1000? It seems very confusing with all the different types of armor, their classes, and who all can wear them. If anyone can help please let me know.

pay attention to the bug threads here too, so you dont go waste stuff on bugged armor, they will fix it im sure, but when?

I did read the CURB thread which did have a lot of useful information in it. I think you are right though, getting back into it will be a slow process. A few weeks wait might be a good idea though. By the bug reports it sounds like I am better off sitting tight for a liitle bit until the Devs can get it all figured out.

It will take at least a few weeks just to get a feel for all the new named resource requirements. I'd grab a list of stuff and start watching shifts while you wait. Alot of the old named resources went straight out the window for new idiot named resources because AS's are so very loved by SOE.

So, what I really need to do is forget about Armorsmith at least until the bugs get worked out. I have read the stickies and they aren't exactly easy to get through if you are basically trying to start over again. Perhaps a few weeks would clear up the latest updates.

Really, you have to kind of get back into it slow. The guide for buying armor post CURB for customers is probably the best to read as far as how layers, segments, cores, and appearence works. Another good but dated thread that I keep bookmarked was called "What's wrong with Phrik?" in that they got a good discussion about the resources changes and some pretty good estimates on the resource caps that was helpful for me to understand. (They changed it again since then by removing the lower end gate on named resources though so you only have to figure by the high end gate).


Other than that, all you can do is putt around a bit, keep crafting just to get the hang of the changes...and wait patiently for the fixes!
