G'day all
I know this doesn't strictly belong here, but it really is the only place it sort of fits.
Can someone please explain how the whole armor thing works? I have bought a suit of Padded Armor from one of you good Armorsmiths and for some reason it says I do not have the pre-reqs to equip it. I had a look at the armor specs in my inventory and there is nothing I can see that says I require any skills orcombat levels to wear it. The only requirement I see is a race one and given I am a Zabrak and that is listed, I don't understand why the system won't let me.
I realise I have probably missed something basic here, but can someone help this noob out?
Cheers

Certifications for different classes of armors are given at novice elite combat skill boxes. For example, check out Carbineer. It shows skills for Battle armor mitigation for rate of fire, accuracy, and movement. It doesn't say you are 'certified', but if you have mitigation skills for a class of armor, then you can wear it.

Only certain professions can wear certain types of armor now. No novice profession can wear arrmor. Only higher level professions can wear armor, and only the armor for the profession. For example, if you are a marksman, you cant wear armor, but if you are a novice bounty hunter you can wear assault armor, but with hindrance. If you are a master bounty hunter you can wear the same armor with little to no hindrance.
Anyway here is the list of who can wear what.
Assault
Professions: Bounty Hunter, Commando, Squad Leader
Bonus: +1000 Kinetic
Penalty: -1000 Energy
Appearances: Chitin, Composite, Ithorian Sentinel, Kashyyykian Hunting, Factional
Battle
Professions: Carbineer, Combat Medic, Creature Handler, Doctor, Fencer, Pikeman, Ranger, Swordsman
No Bonus or Penalty
Appearances: Bone, Marauder, Padded, Ithorian Defender, Kashyyykian Black Mountain, R.I.S. (quest), and Factional
Reconaissance
Professions: BioEngineer*, Pistoleer, Rifleman, Smuggler
Bonus: +1000 Energy
Penalty: -1000 Kinetic
Appearances: Mabari, Tantel, Ubese, Ithorian Guardian, Kashyyykian Ceremonial, and Factional
* BioEngineers only receive hindrance mitigations equal to "basic" core armor.

Look at your skills (Ctrl+S).Listed in the boxes of the combat professions is armor related skills. The three types of armor are Recon, Assault and Battle armor. Until you are qualified to wear one of this types you cannot equip it. Nearly allcombat professions can wear certain types of armor, for example, riflemen wear recon armor. If you are only a crafter you are not allowed to wear any armor other than a Personal Shield Generator.
