They do not offer you any protection. That was supposed to be part of the tradeoff of wearing an arm. However, I've seen a few posts from people with cyber arms saying that they don't ever seem to get hit on the arm, meaning the combat channel never shows any hits that aren't reduced by their armor.

This is due to the fact that most attacks specifically aim at a specific location. Headshot, legshot and bodyshot, anybody? For each of those attacks with high damage modifier only one specific piece of armour matters. (Two times by now somebody without leg armour dared to duel me. Legshot finished them off in no time...) As NPCs also use those specials, the same behaviour is true there, too.

I am not sure about it, buti think that the pistoleers disarming shot aims at the arms. Unfortunately, with it's damage modifier of 0.6 it's not often used and definitely not spammed in combat.

The only ability i currently know which has a decent damage modifier and at the same time can hit the chance is the carbineer's scattershot. A single scattershot attack at the moment applies 50% of the weapon damage at 3 random hitlocations. (Resulting in a damage modifier of 1.5.) Due to the random hitlocation, there at least is a chance of an arm hit, resulting in significally higher possible damage vs. a person with cyberlimbs.

So against a carbineer who knows what he's doing, using those limbs is a serious risk and disadvantage, if my assumption about disarming shot is true then the pistoleer also should do pretty fine with disarming shot against such people, but in general the arms are pretty save and need for armour there is low.

well interestingly enough freshly looted arms of necrosis still show an armor bonus (All cyberarmsat least orrigionally had very very crappy armor raitings something like 12-2500 depending on the arm type. Though soon as you port anywhwere etc they poof.

I've used them in combat qutie abit and I've never noticed much of a difference in damage taken. Though there are supposedly a few attacks that will hit the arms such as body shot etc. Some people feel it's worth the trade off and frankly in certain cases it -is-. Most of my guildmates when we do DWB runs pop on a res arm ontop of how ever many docs/MCMs we manage to have along. That way as long as ONE person survives a screwup. We can get everyone back up on their feet.

I need to know the difference between marauder armor and bone/padded armor.
