Thread: Considering AS Alt

I've been considering getting a second account for a support character. My main char is always broke.

My guild is lacking an armorsmith, and so I am strongly considering that as the profession for the alt. In the past, the only profession I really ever did much crafting for was doctor, but I never ould seem to get organized enough to make my own meds. I didn't mind the grind so much, even though I spent months at it - I never did the afk macro thing, and I spent a lot of time hunting, instead of crafting. Anyway - how bad is the grind for AS? Post-CU can it be profitable? What do you guys think I should consider prior to making the decision?

Thanks!

I have grinded MCM then MDoctor then MArmorsmith post-CU (during a double xp week).

I think MAS grind is at least two time more boring and eat much more ressources.

Try to get theressources required to craft at least one type of unlayered armor (recon/battle/assault),

and don't forget resources for your grind.

Profitable: probably yes but be prepared to spend more IG hours craftingthan youexpect

I did the same, however I've found myself on my armorsmith 90% of the time and my CL 80 main is shelved.

Armorsmithing isn't some that's "part-time" if you want to be any good at it.

The reason I couldn't make my own meds had less to do with my ability to craft than it did with not having the fighting ability to be able to make harvester runs by myself. That isn't an issue now, as my main char will be able to make the runs, and escort the AS char as needed for harv placement. Plus I have written my own software to help with determining the best resources available for whatever I need to make, as listed on SWGCraft.

I won't have a problem investing the time to make MAS, nor in what I think it will take to maintain it. I tend to play anywhere from 10 to 30 hours a week. But, that's why I'm asking here, is to see what it does take to maintain a decent MAS char. I don't need anyone telling me I can't do it, I was hoping for some examples or real advice on what it will take...

I never said you can't, I just said that for a cumtomer-based source of income, you can't do it part-time and expect to compete. It's a murderous world, that of the AS. I am clawing my way to the top where 3 or 4 of the Chilastra Armorsmiths have sat for years. I hold the utmost respect for them, because of their dedication and time involved.

Again, to clarify, you CAN be a part-time Armorsmith, but expect part-time results.

I have heard postCU it is really bad

Post-CU can it be profitable? yes, very resource and time intensive though

What do you guys think I should consider prior to making the decision? if you couldn't get organizes for doc, you may have a problem. It sounds like you are going into this business to make money, not because you like it. If you really want to make a crafter, and you are in it for money but have a hard time with organization I would suggest not doing AS. My advice would be to make your toon a master artisan. Everyone buys/needs swoops and they are very easy to make, and the resources are easy to get. You can also make fine money on powerups and the artisan foods are better than a lot of chef foods.

You can make a fortune just getting resources and selling those. You can mine your own and also harvest what the AS want. Much much easier than doing AS. Once you get the hang of artisan, you might try AS, but I wouldn't recommend before based on what you said

Thanks!
