Hard to say. If you have a smuggler in your guild with a rank of colonel to buy faction for you, it may not be worth it if you can stand the little bit of faction you'll lose when he or she delegates it to you. The smuggler forum FAQ has info on the exact amount lost by different ranks. I'm not sure I'd drop anything I enjoy just to make the armor a little cheaper.

I wasn't sure about what the difference in prices for schems was so was hoping a non smuggler AS and a smuggler AS could shed some light on what they are charged before I make my decision.

I don't believe there's any difference in the price in faction charged by the recruiter. You'd really have to have two armorsmiths in the same galaxy buy their schems from the same recruiter to know as the state of the GCW on the planet has the largest effect on the price of the schems.

That's what he was asking I think.

I couldn't find anything in the current smuggler FAQ about discounts on faction perks for smugglers. I only recently respec'ed to smuggler, and I can't say I noticed any significant difference in the cost of the schems.

I am considering respecing from SW to AS, to mainly provide faction armor for our stormtrooper guild and allies. I wasn't sure if I should go smuggler as well, or if the difference in cost for schems (if there is one) was worth giving up another profession I enjoy to also respec into smuggler.

the smuggler rank determines the price he buys factio points at.
The GCW on the PLANET you are on determines the price of your faction perks, smuggler class has no affect on that.
The planet with highest "yourFaction to opositionFaction" gives the lowest price.
If you are a smuggler yourself you can save the 10% transfer fee. Meaning that FP would cost you areound 72.8cpp instead of around 80cpp.
Numbers might be a little off, i havent bought fp for a long time.
In essence if you buy fp a lot there is money to be saved from doing it yourself instead of getting it delegated, because there is always a fee on the delegate, even if the smuggler doing it is Colonel.
