Since I am stuck with battle armor since the CU, I decided it was time to get RIS certified and make myself a suit. Problem is, I cant find the GDK scales I need. I ave a minimum of 10 each on the other components. I knew where a vendor had a few GDK scales listed for 1 million pre-cu, which I didnt want to pay... I decided to bite the bullet and pay a m,illion for one so I could get creted.... but they have gone up to 3 million now.
Are tghese harder to find than they were b4 the cu? Can anyone offer me any advice on finding them at a reasonable price? Also, I was wondering how the peices are crafted after the CU. As battle armor, do they use battle cores, or do they use a proprietary ris segment and core?

I believe they are easier to get now than they were Pre-CU. Head to Kimo town on Lok, a giant dune kimo is there at the static spawn. He is level 83 at the moment and pretty easy to take down with a good lvl 80 combat profession. I myself have been killing peko peko albs because word has it their feathers have +17 to health, but I have yet to get them with stats. I'm hoping the stats just don't show.

The reasoning of the price hike is that we shouldn't be able to solo a GDK. I have not fought one post-cu yet but have heard the level can be in the 120 range... Which does make it impossible to solo.
If you can solo the instanced spawn at the Kimo Town and get results (pre-CU it was a waste of time) then go for it. Pre-CU drops (when they did occur) were anywhere from 5-11 scales...

Yeah really, I took a stroll out there over the weekend. Cas Vanko was lvl 119 and the GDK was lvl 160.

i crafted RIS pants yesterday just to do it... they were regular battlearmor with 5894 protection all round... i added a PRE-CU peko feather segment and the condition ended on around 90k. Ris is just for te brag factor, not better or worse than regular armor, cept for the condition.

Aye. You generally have to kill quite a few GDKs to get a scale drop once. It's kinda like Krayt pearls. Though krayts have a lower level raiting on average.

Last night I went to Kimo Town, the GDK there is a lvl 81 now and cas is lvl 80. They both are easier to kill now than they ever were.

I managed to finish the RIS quest... But since I only had two scales, and the quest used them both.. I still can't make any armor. Guess I'll have to head out there again. It certainly wasnt too difficult to kill them, although it was a tough fight every time.... they just dont drop scales very often.

I've never gotten a scale drop out of the Kimo Town GDK but pre-CU was getting drops on about 1 in 10 kills from Mount Chaolt or spawns north of the Imp Outpost 1k-2k meters or so.

It's all luck, really. My last two outings to Kimo town before the CU resulted in 17 scales...total time was around 2.5 hours
