Thread: Question about resource quality and stat caps on components, etc.

I am beginning to collect resources for AS, and I was wondering just how good my resources need to be to maximize my armor quality.

Is there a cap on the stat values for coresand segmentsand final combines, and if so, what sort of overall OQ/SR averages do I need to reach these caps?

The reason I ask, is that I would like to know if I should bother mining stuff with OQ/SR in the mid 800s or so, or should I just stick to stuff in the 900s?

Most of your stats need to be around 950 or so to max armor. This site has some decent info

Well, it's not a straight forward answer. First, yes, there are caps to segment and core protection ratings. Segments max out at 1000, and cores max out at 3000 (that's 3000 for the core + the ammount added by each of the 3 segments in the core). There is a max of 6000 points. Seeing as how it's impossible to reach this cap without perfect resources, the final combine of the armor (crafting the "appearance") adds 400 points to armor. So you actually only have to reach 5600 protection on the cores.

I'm still new, but I finally got the resources I need to max out battle armor. For me, the majority of the stats are in the 900s, but a few are still 800s. Now for another twist. Some resources are capped in certain stats. For example, some resources may have an SR that is capped at 500. In the crafting system, this is translated to a scale of 1000. So 500=1000, 450=900, 400=800, etc.

So now I'm going to make the best recommendation you'll get. Read the stickies. Caile has done a great job putting them all in the sticky called "Armorsmith FAQ/Guides."
Even better, go check out this thread. It helped me soooooo much. As a smart armorsmith told me...Bookmark it, learn it, and pass it on to the next person who ask these questions. (and hopefully we'll get it stickied one day)

EDIT: LOL, looks like I got beat on recommending this wonderful thread. I guess that just goes to show how great it is.

Thanks for the info.....I read the stickies, and now I remember seeing a thread that actually provided the formula for how resource values convert into final combine values. Any clue where this one is?

Um, is it not the one that RPMayem clickied in his post? That has the math of what you need to do written in it and it is not in the stickies (yet). I made a post where I tried to explain it in more simpler terms (for RPMayem, I think ) I could try to dig that up if the link they gave you isn't helping.

No, silly, I read that one. There was another one that had the formulas for calculating the crafted stats based on x number of Amazing Successes etc., and based on the actual stats of the resources, and all that stuff.

Methinks I will make an Excel spreadsheet to calculate armor stats based on resource values (at least for IMP faction armor)
