I realize that layer schematics are not showing stats until you produce something, but I'm now not even getting stats when I make an individual layer (testing out resources)
Is this part of the issue also?
This is how I used to see if I wanted to do a run or not.... is there any workaround?

You can log out and then back in and it will show properly I believe. I usually just just judge it by the experimentation percentage. I personally don't like to use anything under 88% unless I have to.

It's pretty easy to figure out base on the experimentation, especially for energy or kinetic layers. Since they cap at 100 (100%) experimentation, whatever you experiment to is your resist. So if you experiment to 93%, it will be +93, or the 88% is a +88. For the primus you just have to devide it by two as it caps at +50 (so the 88% is now +44 for the primus layer).

question on layers, you think they will ever tone down the amount of layers armor requires? quad layered armor takes alot of layers.

Answer: No, I don't think so.
Would make it a whole lot easier, but even if used to think layers were a big pita, I have sort of gotten used to them. It's not like they were ever meant for mass-produced stock armor anyway, imho.
