Thread: Getting Started and Have a Quick Question

I am a new MAS and am starting to accumulate resources. I have run my first set of Segments which came out at 953, which leads me to my first question...are my segments any good?

Now I need to run off some cores and would like to seek some advice with regards to some of the resources. I currently do not have any Nabooian Bristley or Beryllius Copper, both of which I know I need for Adv. Battle Cores. I have checked SWGCraft to see if there have been any good spawns in the past. I did find bristley that had some good stats but the copper left much to be desired(at least what i found). With regards to both resources would it be ill advised to use a couple of my 30k resource kits to acquire these resources or should I hold out? Also, is Beryllius a gated resource? If so how can I find out what other resources are gated? And finally, if I craft good segments but have mediocre resources for cores will I still be able to cap my unlayered armor and if I can't is it even worth it to craft less than capped? And finally, how will I know if I have capped my cores?

I know there are a lot of questions in there. Any help with any of them is more than greatly appreciated.

All good questions, that will take longer to answer than I want to type. Some of it is in the stickies and some are in other posts that I have bookmarked (and I suggest you do to). Also, selling noncapped armor is still very profitable. I have been doing that for a while and have had no problem with sales. Also, hang on to those deed for a rainy day...you will regret using them now and they won't last long if you use them on the Bristley and copper.

Your segments are plenty good and will help you compensate for weaker core resources. Beyrllius copper is a gated resources with a max SR of less than 500. Someone just posted the resource gates in the forum.

As Leviticus said, uncapped armor sells well. Only with the recent resource buff am I now able to routinely cap my armor. I've been selling standard suits of recon and assault that are 100 to 200 points below cap and even some battle that was 600 points below cap once. It all moved off the vendor smartly.

You will have capped your cores when the special protection reaches 5600 or more since protection caps at 6000 and the final assembly adds as much as 400 to protection.

I, too, would advise you to hold on to your resource deeds for special projects or for when that rare layer resource just won't spawn. They also make great survey devices. While they won't tell you where anything is, you'll at least know if you should go looking or advertising for hunters.

Everything Lev and Pyke said.

Your segments are pretty good. With decent core resources, you will reach cap.

All non-JTL resources are gated. But judging from your register date, you may not know what they are.

The resources in italics are the JTL resources.

Since the buffs came out, I can cap all types of armor but not all the customers out there can afford it.

I still sell cheap armor that's like 500-1000 off cap and have no problems selling it at half the price of my capped stuff.

If you are still trying to figure out what you need, it's not time yet to use your 30K deed.

There will come a time where you will automatically "know" what you need and even the exact name of the resource (if you experiment a lot and do your homework).

Until that time comes, I suggest youdon't use the deed.

If your Beyrllius Copper (or any other specific resource) isn't so hot, try looking for other resources that may be able to help compensate for it. Amor Gems and Ext Ore with high stats are easier to find.

Segments and Cores work separately. Segments max at 1000. You use 3 segments per core = max 3000.

The Cores can then add an additional max 3000 to your segments.

But this is when using perfect OQ1000/SR1000 resources.

Since this is never gonna happen, SOE gave us a 400 point bonus that gets added on during the final combine. Hence you only need "3 Segments+Cores=5600" or higher to hit cap.

You can sift through this new thread for gate values.

You can also check for you server what the best and worst stats were for any particular resource using SWGCraft's find resources page. Set the "class" to the resource you want to check, the "server" to your server, leave the rest blank and submit the form. On the results page that comes up, you can sort the results by whatever stat you want. Each stat has a little up/down arrow at its right -- click up to get ascending order and down to get descending order.

If you check this for something like SR and you sort from highest to lowest, you can easily scan the OQ column to see which has the best OQ/SR combination.

Thank you everyone for the great information/advice. I made my first schem for cores yesterday and they came out at 5600+so according to what I have read I can capp my armor. Pretty cool. Now just waiting for them to cook.

Anyway, thanks again.
