Thread: how big is the influence of food/research center/ FS skills on crafting?

I just got a 12pt WS with a full stock of resources and haven't been doing much crafting myself before (spent enough time at AS/WS friends while they crafted though)...


I never wondered about this before, but what can you expect in results after each step?


-moving to a research center

-taking crafting food

-getting the FS crafting skills


I've been looking in the stickies and all but can't really find how big the effect is, and if they all stack or not.


Also some of my crafter friends swear they're getting more amazings with the entertainer buffs, but I though they only raised the stats on your resources by 2%?

I have found that as soon as I got my first fs experimentation box, I have never had anything less than a great success experiment.

Is that with your crafting suit? I've got one measly box of FS experimentation, and I fail pretty often without my +25 suit on.

Think of it like this...


You have a lower chance of getting criticals, and a higher chance of amazings.

If you're making schematics where you can just throw it away and make a new one, I see no use.

However, if you're making any Health Enhanced Armor, RIS, BH, Mando, or anything else you DON'T want to mess up,then every little bit counts.

when i had 4400 force crafting (exp and assembly) i only rarely got under great assembly and i never failed a crafting(when that mattered). Now im Master force crafter and i never get under great assembly, but the amazings are still rare. Using a 20exp/25assembly suit.

Ah, that is with my crafting suit as well, +25 exp, sorry for not being explicit. However, I used to get the odd good with just that, nowI have an fs box, I never get that and its been that way for months. Almosthave enough xp for the 2nd box now

I cannot give any hard numbers, because I have a character that has had FS Crafting Mastery (FSCM)for so long. However, I will say this from experience:


  • I had a buff and stim pack crafting Doctor before the CU and did not have FSCM, however always did crafting with +15 tools at +45 stations in a Research Center. I also had +25 Medical Assembly and Experimentation. I did not get 'amazing success' very often, and had many more critical failures than amazing successes.

  • That same character is now a 0004 BE to craft stimpacks with FSCM. With the same tools and stations while NOT in a Research Center, I rarely, if ever get any failures on experimentation. I get 'amazing success' much more often, and actually rarely get anything below a great success.

  • Now when I'm in a Research Center and have an inspiration buff, things get even better. I hit 'amazing success' often. I actually almost even count on it happening. I never get below 'great success' during experimentation.

Now if only I could grind out FS Experimentation and Technique on my AS char. LOL
