Anyone out there ever try making arm segments that are lighter than the rest of the suit?
Personally, when I wear composite(I also wear mabari, chitin, ubese, and occasionally no armor) I usually don't wear the arm segments because it adds way too much ham hits to the armor I wear for minimal increase in protection. Half the time I wear the biceps, but almost always leave the bracers off. I do the same thing with the boots, I usually run around dantooine doing solo missions without boots.

So, I know most armor users look at the raw resists, but make a few sets of arm segs with reduced ham and give em a try, u might like the results

I have 3 sets of composite, but the lightweight sets almost never sell. It just seem that people just dont care about encumbrance.

What I am trying to say is for overall armor crafting the arm segments really don't matter all that much, because u can get as much protection (more because of reduced encumberance) without arm segments because of a bug.
I'm also saying that most ppl, including armorsmiths, have no clue about how to optimize their armor for maximum protection, and it goes beyond just raw resists.

I'd have to agree with you hands down there Sobyv. I was making MABARI armor last week and told someone my stats (at the time, 18% Kinetic- whichis pretty good for Mabari). He said, that's not very good, itusually has about80%. I told him it's not composite, it's mabari. He said well, even for Mabari composite, it's not very good. I said, NOT COMPOSITE. There are other armors besides composite you idiot. This stuff has 1/9th of the encumberance of composite, and with the right stat migrations and skills, this is some tough armor against certain enemies.
People want a panacea (composite) when that is not necessarily the best choice. Smart players evaluate their skills, their stats, their HAM, and then weigh it against their enemy's skills, their enemy's stats, and thier enemy's HAM and pick the best armor for the job. This is not always going to be composite.
Just like in the real world-- sure you could have 10" steel walls on your house that would protect you from anything, but really??? The only thing you need to protect yourself from is weather and garden variety criminals-- most people find that a deadbolt, some shingles, and a structurally sound wooden frame good enough to do the job. Heh, that might even be overkill.
Think outside the boxand don't dowhat everyoneelse is doing-- everyone else may be wrong!

all u need most of the time is boots, chest, gloves , helm its a bug, nothing hits u in the unarmored areas . There is one drawback to this.....armor condition falls faster
