Thread: Do you sell your customers what they want ? or what is the best for them ?

I'm seeing more and more AS ( not on Valcyn though) making triple 80% armor (kinetic/energy/elec) or making 80% Kinetic high base armor .

As much as reaching those kind of stats on armor is a huge achievement, they are not that practical to fight with because of their characteristics and the way slicing works.

So my question is the following, do you take the time to explain customers how slicing works and what special resist do on armor or you just make the armor with the highest numbers expecting they don't understand much about armor and will buy it because they never saw stats that high ?

Personally I think a high base composite set made with electricity or even better stun layers is hand down better than any of those triple 80% suits.

Any eff slice will push the stun layered set to a higher base than your triple 80% and on top of this the ham will even be lower ( provided it's just 12-13% stun armor). Armor of choice is 13% stun 70% base here or 39% stun 66% base for those that want heavy stun ( 26% stun 70% base possible too but not much use except on helmet).

For kinetic it's more of a gray area, personally I prefer making the light 1520-1540 80% Kinetic 62%-63% base composite and I know many go for the Heavy 80% Kinetic 70-72% base composite.

I make it that way because with those kinds of thats any slice will be good ( either will make the armor ultra light or will bum the base close to 80% and the people buying those sets fight mainly opponents doing kinetic damage and occasionaly another type of damage. What they want is something good, not too heavy and that will last them a while...

Anyway, feel free to comment/flame away.

I usually make what is best for them and try to explain it to them...although im not at my vendor most the time, so I'm not sure how many people come inside and leave due to my "low" specials...even tho I'm making 80kin 69base...oh well

For my guild mates i make whats best for them and explain why. For what im setting up to sell its what the market will bear. Which are suits of extremely heavy armor with high resists.

To be honest it depends on the customer for special suits, some people know what they want and are very forthright and others are more open minded and are happy to sit and chat about what theyre gonna be doing... different strokes for different folks, whatever makes them happy

For my regular stock I just make 80% Kin as light as i possibly can, I think most folk are only really buying it for the kinetic anyway. I do however make triple and quadruple 80%'s, if only for the sake of economy, not everyone can afford to buy duplicate pieces to get 90%.

80%specials have a place that they are the best avalible armor.

As an armorsmith i have a suit of 90%with stun protection for myslef but dont usualy use it for everyday use. I do use my 80/80/80 stuff though cause its not worth my time to slcie a suit that i know will be fraged totaly in 3 buff sessions if i get decent repairs or only last one buff session if i dont get a good repair

I try to inform my customers, but some just dont get it

I started my armorsmithing making some crazy heavy 80% kin comp and it eventually evolved to about 80% kin 65% base and by this time I had better resources (colat finally spawned again) and an extra skill point, I had to decide to go either with the high base 80% kin or the slightly lower base, but lower HAM kin comp. Personally I think the lighter stuff is much better, but my customers wanted the high base stuff. I probably sold 5-6 suits of the high base stuff for every light suit I sold.

Eventually more customers wanted the lighter (and my opinion, better) comp, and today I prob sell 5 high base suits for every 4 light ones, so almost the same amount.

to answer your question, I do a little of both. I try to inform my customers on what is the better armor, but most don't listen. I doesnt take too much skill to make the high base stuff, so I throw it into factories and let them have it.

stun is a interesting story too. I think that the 4-12% stun 69-70% base stuff is the way to go. I also had my yokozuna line that was/is 80% energy 4% stun and around 600 mind HAM, so pretty light stun stuff, good for faction missions, the vette and even pvp (with triple layered helm of course). People insist on having triple stun layered bracers and arm peices, and I have actually quit making them because I think it is a waste.
