I am a noob master armorsmith. I am making armor with 80%kin/78ele/65% base. My HAM is retardedly high. I am wondering if anyone could please point me on how to get the ham lower. Like, where to throw my 10 points at. If possible, could someone take the time to type out what needs to be done to each piece that makes the armor. I'm mostly focusing on ubese and composite. Thanks in advance.

What's your HAM coming out as, hun?

Just keep in mind that if you're comparing the stats on your stuff to, for example, Tess' stuff, there's going to be a difference, because lots of our master AS's are 12-pointers. If you're only working with 10 points, and working with the best stuff you can get right now, there's going to be either a sacrifice of resists or some extra HAM. ^_^

Grats on Master.... I'm following right behind ya.... ^_^

lol I don't think he is on Kettemoor... 12pt AS will have lower HAM and Higher Condition. Best is to just make 80% COMp suits and sell them in Back Packs, advertised as Full 80% Kinectic suits. Once you make some one yo can try to buy attachments for an 11 point or so. ASk your friends if they goot any.

I figured that the low encumberance suits were by the +12 armorsmiths. So, its this for that.... THanks for the help.

Howdy low encumb is definately possible to do for 10 pointers also they just dont get the last bit off

What you want to do is to make a pair of unlayered!! gloves
On segments you max base then encumb (middle line then top line)

Do the same on the glove itself.

Now you will have the your "base base" so to speak..
Example from when I started was 52% unlayered base
To get to 80% kinetic you will then need 28% more, and an important thing to remember is that base also adds to the kin special.
So you will need three layers that in all gets you 28% kin

If you are doing heavy max base armor what you would want to do is to make another pair of gloves where you put in three layers where you have maxed the base.
for instance that may have been layers that are 4% base

Now that you have your finished base of 64-66 (fractions count so a 4.33 layers yields 13% and a 4.66 layers yields 14%)
For this example we just say you got a 64% base.

To use your points as best possible you will now look at how much kinetic special you need
80% - 64% = 16%
16/3 = 5.33 per layer special resistance
what you will probably want to do is to make one layer of 6% and two of 5% resulting in the 16% needed

now you will have layers that are optimised to give you just the right amount of kinetic needed to get 80% kin
Remember fractions also count on special resist so if your base is 4.33 your special will also have .33 making it so you need one point less visible!!
(In the above example you would be able to use three 5.33 layers to get 16%)

Any leftover points after this you put into lowering the encumberance

What many starting Masters do wrong is to put everything into base then the rest into special which most of the time is a real waste of points.

By the way if you are from kette shoot me a tell and I will invite you to our little "armorsmith chatroom" KAS

that is a great post man, I appreciate it. My hats off to the armorsmith community, this is a tough profession to start out in.

What is the special protection on your kinetic layers before you experiment?

Just curious, causeI think Estei made an outstanding post that answered your question 5 gold stars for you!

One more thing to remember is make sure you use amazings to your advantage, when making layers for example if you make sure you only use layers where you got an amazing on the first experiment with 7 or 8 points in base, you will find you have an extra point to use against HAM and thus cut the weight further....
