How come you dont see many vendors selling padded armour? and how much should I expect to pay for a full set?

Appreciate any thoughts you might have

1) Its cant be made with resist like composite and condition isnt that great either. Its more of a decor armor then something you use everyday.

2) Price can ranged anywere from 100k-500k depending on quality and who makes its. This also depends on the server your on.

With the number of color options, it would be hard to stcok any decent amount. I hate having stuff rot on the vendor.

I only do padded by order.

The reason you don't see much of it is that it requires a lot more 'natural' resources such as hides. Composite only uses Generic Wooly from any planet. Padded uses, Yavinian Wooly, Lokians Leathery, generic scaley and generic wooly.

As these scout-harvestable resources are a lot harder to gather than sticking a BER13 on the ground somewhere the prices are higher and there's less of it around. You also have to wait for decent spawns of them.

I stock Padded in some of the more popular colours and it does sell. I also do custom orders in specialised colours. Padded has been my favourite armor for most PvE. I wear it with a Tantel helm for better looks.

I actually have the resources to make pretty decent padded armor on Kettemoor. It just easier for people to custom order and tell you what colour they want it rather than dumping a load of factory run green and pink sets.

Most of the answers here are spot-on.

I specialized in custom padded armor. The resource issues are much worse than for comp, imho. When I advertise (ask Starsider inhabitants about my advertising macro -- it's a hoot) and get responses, my standard thing to do is send people a brochure explaining that while I can make really good padded for PvE, 70-80% kinetic depending on price, it won't compete with comp for total coverage and price.

And when chatting with someone about padded, and they ask about price, I usually ask them to sit down and have a medic or doctor on standby. That gets a laugh.

The only color I stock on a vendor is solid black. It's about 10% of my orders, anyway, so it makes sense. I've thought about stocking midnight blue pads over black layers, but that's only about one in 20 orders, so probably not worth it.

So, I keep a variety of segs (plain, with NS shards, with Krayt) always ready for use, and when I get an order, I send people off to an image dump of the padded palette and have them pick their colors. Then I crank their suit out.

I do similar thing as well except I also offer vanity suits at 1/4 the price of my functional suits. I also set up a padded showroom near my workshop with about 20 different color combos so people can go and get an idea of what al is available.

Padded is very popular as a "luxury grinding armor." People love the look and don't gripe about the prioce once they realize how much of a pain it is to gather those specific organics.
