Hey, i'm a relative newbie to the armorsmith world and my target market is actually newbie players (players that can't afford the best armors). Since i plan on beingArmorsmith 3104, I wanna try to build the best possible Tantel, Chitin, Mabari, Ceremonial, and Gaurdian armor I can. I've tried searching this forum for answers but nothing specific can be found. Basically, I'd like to know what resources, segments, segment enhancers, and skill/armor attachments should i get to do this.
And before ya'll start saying, "well, you won't be able to make the BEST possible, unless you're a master armorsmith", i know this. I won't have the skill pts to become master armorsmitty so, any advice on what i can do with 3104 would be very much appreciated.

1) Resources - Gether or find resource you will need for adv segments Watching for HIGH OQ/SR resources mainly..
2)Segment enhancers would depend on what your making because their is very specific one for diffrent around. Krayt Segment will go into any armor ( I think) but will cost you more for the better ones and they are more effective in a composite suit.
3) Mastery - Yes you are not able to master this will servely limit you on resist and the experimentation phase in crafting.
4) AA/CA You said your not going to master. Well Armor Exp tapes go for 1 mill per point to 2.5 mill for anything over +5 or more.
Sorry if i didnt touch something but this sould give you a idea what you need check the FAQ in these fourms for more info on crafting and segments.

Thanks for help. I did manage to find some Armor Exp clothing attachments for only 100k/piece (might be different on your server) but (being extremely niave) I dropped both on one piece of clothing thinking it was going to make it +2 but it only overwrote each other! Doh!
So I guess the keys i'm looking for armor exp clothing attachments, excellent OQ for every resource, using Advanced versions of segments, and get some krayt scales...
I wish as part of a combat revamp, they'd make it so layers can be put in ALL armor, this would definitely help rid the galaxy of the army of robocops running around.
Thanks again!

make sure you are looking for resources with OQ and SR, I think all armors way these both equally, so a 700OQ 900SR is much better than 900OQ 400SR.
also you can layer tantal, so do that. Chitin and mabari are great with NS shards or krayt scales.
Chitin always max special protection, mabari always max base

If these are all the skill points you can allocate to Armorsmith, I'd suggest just going 3004 or 4004 and saving yourself five or three skillpoints. Mabari and Chitin do not accept layers, and Tantel is bugged in that using anything but energy layers is worthless. With 4004, you could make unlayered Advanced Ubese, which would actually prove useful as a somewhat light newbie armor. You could also enter the "fashion" Padded market, as your 7 experimentation points wouldn't matter all that much to the consumer.

Agree - 4104 would be a good template for newbie armor, find just +5 armor exp to get the 8th point and you can be making 70% Kinetic Ubese.... Are you SURE you cant spare the 2 points, have a real good think!!!

I did that for months - I was an 8-point non-master actually making a good living off of Ubese and padded. I ground up to 3/0/0/4 and boughta few crates of kineticlayered advanced Ubese segments from a retiring master armorsmith.I made Ubese by hand with them and ended up at 4/1/0/4, and from there it was just stocking my vendor with hand-made Ubese all the way up to master.

Awesome input, ppl! I was really considering, tossing the 0100 in favor of going 4004 if i could since i'd be able to make the mid range ithorian/wookie armors as well. And the idea of doing "fashionable padded armor" sounds really good cause i wanted to do more 'artistic' stuff with my armor (afterall most newbies not only want armor, but they want 'cool' looking armor :smileyhappy
.
I'm always keeping my eye out for clothing attachments that do armor exp increases. I usually check every loot vendor i can during a shopping run incase some ill-advised newbie sells em for cheap. lol, i had no idea ppl were spending a million creds or more for those clothing attachments. I've only seen em for 100k, and I play on bloodfin, the mosteconomic-inflated galaxy i've seen.
Thanks again for the input. Since most of my forum time is spent when i'm at work, i take notes all the time during breaks and such. Crafting is certainly more 'involving' than combat.

Like the others here, I would suggest finding +5 armor exp, and getting a master armorsmith to make you runs of really nice 12pt Kinetic layers which you can use in your ubese. I'd say go 4/0/0/4 and find a 12 point smith that will make schematics of kinetic layers with your resources. (I'm willing to make anyone schematics if they bring me their resources.. and I'm sure others wouldn't have a hard time doing the same). If you can get a 12point kinetic layer, and you use the advanced ubese segments, 8 points should be enough to make some nice stuff that will sell well.
As far as newbie armor goes, look into CHITIN! It's the coolest looking low armor availible, and it can have up to about 65% kinetic resists. Again, make sure to use advanced segments if at all possible. also, look the guide to armorsmithing and find looted enhancers that bump kinetic. (I think voritor scales?) I haven't done it in a while, but these are very good to add, and will make your newbies happy. Above all, remember to sell at a decent price. You are targeting newbies here, so I assume you're more interested in helping out then in making a quick buck. If that's the case, make your armor cheap, but still allow for profit (maybe like twice the cost of the materials or something like that..). It will be dirt cheap armor, and you'll still make money off of it.
If you were on eclipse I'd be happy to hook you up more, but I dont have an armorsmith on bloodfin. Good luck!

I think i'm selling my armor pretty cheap for newbies, LOL. I sell my mabari/bone armor pieces for about 2k or less (depending on stats),Chitin sells like hotcakes for 6k per piece, andmy level one Ithorian/Wookie armor goes for about 9k/piece (cause of the resources used and the specifiicity of the race).
Basically, a wookie can get an entire suit of armor for 36k, which i find pretty cheap consider a composite chestplate alone sells for more than that here...

You can really help yourself out with keeping a close eye on the bazaar. Sometimes rancor padded segs are 500creds each which will save you alot of wooly hide. Also, if you dont mind making by hand. There is never a shortage of voritar scales which can get you a extra 4-8% on your kinetic and energy. Using segs from the bazaar can drop your overhead alot and probably give you better armor. Some of the rancor padded segs can get you up 50% base which you can sell for a decent coin. But the basic 12% gets you like low 40% which people could use for show or grinding. I think smiths could make some decent coin going under the high price 12pts likes myself.
