Thread: Looking For an HONEST Response from the DEV's

This thread is a very simple one. I am a Master Armoursmith on the Kettemoor server and I'm sure there are many other armoursmiths and weaponsmiths like me when I ask;

Why were we not included in the creation of ship compnents?

To me it would have been an obvious choice and decision for us to make armour and weapons, maybe it's just me, but that seems the most logical.

Now all I'm asking for is an HONEST answer from Tigg's or TH, or whoever as to why it's not this way.

Thank you for your time and I await to hear your reply.

Hmmm...this makes a bit of sense. I mean, we make Composite segments for High level Droid armor.

Originally I believe we were supposed to be included in the design process of ships, but what ended up happening is the devs designing SW so that people could master it over night and start producing high quality ships over night so that the huge demand from the JTL population would have proper SW support that didn't need to wait a few weeks to get any decent ships, which was one of the largest fears in beta. They where afraid the players would progress through pilot faster the SW's could create ships for them, and then we would have one helluva problem.

I bet we get included later on in some of the newer ships. Just have to wait and see.

I'm having a hard time seeing how logically someone that can make body armor is going to be qualified or capable of making armor for a spacecraft, or that someone who is a master of hand-held weapons is going to be capable of making ship gun emplacements.

They're totally different things. It's not logical that an armorsmith or weaponsmith would be involved in creating these things.

It is a game... logic does not apply to a make believe world. There are many examples in game where logically things shouldn't be the way they are.

In any case, yes it would have been nice to have been included somehow in the space game... hopefully we will get a bone later.

it's not so much that i'd like to make the armour soley, but at least be able to make enhancments like BE's do for chefs and docs...it would be nice to make the armour soley, but just because we make wearable armour we can't make armour components...we make ARMOUR....whether it be wearable or not...

Well, logic does apply- just not in the same way. I'm often reminded of a quote I heard that I don't know the source of: "I'm willing to suspend my disbelief, but not hang it by the neck until dead." I realize that logic as we know it in the real world often doesn't apply to in-game mechanics. However, I prefer at least some internal consistency, and I just can't see someone who makes personal armor designed to protect an organic being from harm having the knowledge of how to make armor that can protect the internal systems of a spacecraft from plasma bolts.

Yes, but what about shield generators...they are not directly sitting on the person, but surrounding an area by means of protecting theencompassed organic being from plasma bolts...

and these are made by us good ole armoursmiths

Actually the personal shield generators are on belts, so they sitting on a person.

Maybe something along the lines of the add-on optional parts being made by the other classes would have been cool. Something like the optional droid parts comming from DE's, weapon optional stuff comming form WS, and armor and shield optional parts comming from AS. The actual parts I don't thing should come from other classes, but the optional parts would be fine.

yeah...that is more of what I am trying to get at...I understand AS, and WS not being able to make the items themselves, but we should be able to at least make them even better.

Nothing more...I'd be very happy with that.
