Short story into a long question:
Strolling through Coronet and I notice a guy killing meatlumps. This man is wearing bone armor. I say to myself "wow, this guy might actually be a new player as opposed to being someones alt." This in mind, I asked him what the stats on his armor were. He's sitting at a whopping 11% energy resist, some electric, and that's that. I decide to use my artisan skills and whip him up some bone armor that has been enhanced with voritor scales. Get him a full set (don't ask why I had that many v-scales just hanging about) and it ends up being 30% eng / 6% kin / 14% elec. He is happy, and dons the suit.
Now I start getting quite a bit of artisan exp as I'm just sitting there watching him smack stuff. I had 1088, and when it stopped flowing in I had enough to train business 1 and 2, then had over 1000 exp banked. Quite a bit for one suit of bone armor, I suppose. Well, okay, it was a cheater suit, I admit, but that's even more impressive I suppose.
So, does this use experience still work for armorsmiths? I believe it has to be hand crafted armor for it to work. I'm not sure if you have to be close to the person or even logged on. Does anyone know what the caps are for this exp? Seems like if I had chitin armor, and the experiment line up, I could make chitin for new players, pay to get them buffed, and send them on to reap glorious exp for myself. Has anyone attempted this as a way to level an armorsmith as opposed to pure grinding?
Sorry if this issue has cropped up a thousand times before, but when I searched for similar threads all I could find were ones on how to experiment on armor.

as far as Ihave heard, use experience works when you are within the vinicinity of someone using your stuff, and it is a very small amount. (which makes it take a very looooong time if you where trying to use it to get any elite profesion skills)
A friend of mine in town did an experiment a few months ago where he equipped everyone in town with mabari armor and we all just started fighting each other non stop and he got some decent exp from us just killing each other while in his armor.

I crafted some FREE Ithorian armor for a guy near coronet that was leveling (i'm not master yet). He went back out and started killing the junk outside Coronet... Yes you do need to be in the vicinity, but I got over 1k of armorsmith xp just hanging in town.

I noticed this myself too, just after JTL launched. I was hunting on Dath after converting all my armor xp to FS in the village (so I was at about 0). About halfway through the first lair I checked my skill box for combat xp and noticed that I didn't have 0 armorsmith XPanymore. I didn't know what was going on at first...I hadn't crafted anything.
So I left my skill window open and continued killing the creatures... a few moments after one was killed I noticed my XP increase. After about 5k in experience was gained it didnt seem to go up anymore, so I swapped my chest plate for another in my inventory and was able to gain another 1k or so.
I found in the game holocron where it talks about this type of experience gain, but it's pretty vague. I'm curious how this works since the armor I was wearing wasn't new, I had worn it long enough in game that I had already repaired it about twice (to each piece).
Looks like it's a good incentive for me to outfit my guild with my armor for group hunts. Not a big amount of XP, but every little bit helps when I figure I have to master Armorsmith 39.5 times to get all 4 crafting FS trees filled
